After promising numbers from March, and the news that Microsoft’s losses were shrinking it looks like theres more good news on the horizon for Microsoft. In a recent interview with eWeek, Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division, stated that the 360 will soon be turning a profit.

So, it’s a business that will be profitable next year—we’ll make money next year and that will be the first time, which is pretty exciting. And then the next two or three years are the place where you need to make tracks, and the next two or three years are where you have to make money.

Costs are higher than Bach would like, but the EDD is working to push these costs down. A big factor in pushing the Division into the black is the record attach rate for the 360 and the sales of peripherals and the nearly 6 million members of Xbox Live. No word on a price reduction for the system, but with costs dropping it shouldn’t be too far behind.
