Normally when publishers want to get word out about the demos for their games they issue a press release so that your favorite game sites can report on it, which gets them a that little bit of hype they need. But not 2K. 2K is hip and cool and announces their demos via … Myspace bulletins. 2K published a Myspace bulletin on The Darkness’ Myspace profile stating that we’ll get a demo for the Darkness in early June, according to Xbox360Fanboy that is.

We’re not Myspace buddies with The Darkness or 2K which means we can’t get you any quotes or proof for this as you have to be a person’s friend on Myspace to read their bulletins, so we’ll have to take Fanboy’s word for it. But we know our friends over at Fanboy wouldn’t lie to us. Here’s what they said.

A bulletin recently posted by the official MySpace page of the upcoming 2K title, The Darkness, has clarified several details about the new release. The juiciest of these tidbits is the revelation that a demo is slated to be released before the game hits store shelves. The bulletin notes that the demo won’t be finished in time to make any magazine covers, so it will download only. Currently, the demo is scheduled to arrive approximately 3 weeks before the title debuts on June 25th, so it should be on Marketplace in the first week of June or so.

So they’re aiming for a release for the demo in early June, which means we’ll actually get it in late August since this is still Microsoft we’re dealing with. We’ll let you know as soon as anything pops up on the Marketplace blade. Assuming we’ll have a separate Marketplace blade by then, but again; you’ll never know.
