Bomberman coming in June
We posted just last week that Bomberman Live was in development thanks to a leaked board rating. We speculated at an Arcade release, and it appears to be correct, as more official information reaches us, with the most important and exciting bit of news being that the game should be with us in mid-June. There’s also a whole load of information after the jump about what to expect.
The game will have the following features:
- Developed by Backbone Entertainment
- Offline multiplayer up to 4 players (No System Link)
- Up to 8 people can play over Xbox Live
- Official tournaments each month
- Customizable Bombermen (10,000 possibilities)
- Power-ups also customizable
- 8 different arenas
No pricing details have been revealed yet, however a 1200 MS Points price tag does seem almost reasonable, since there are eight different arenas included as well as 10,000 customisation options. Obviously 1200 Points won’t go down too well, but you can see how they will justify it.
Aside from just the features, there is a whole host of DLC coming. Arriving in packs, each one will contain the following content:
First pack (30 days after LIVE date):
- 1 New Game Mode - Most Frags Mode
- 2 arenas – Air Ship, and a Las Vegas Level
- 10 new characters
- 5 Gamer Pics
- 1 Theme
Second pack (60 days after LIVE date):
- Bomb Shelters
- 10 new characters
- 2 arenas — Race Level, and an Dreamland Level
- 5 Gamer Pics
- 1 Theme
Third pack (90 days after LIVE date):
- 2 new arenas Candy World & Inferno
- 10 new characters
- 5 Gamer Pics
- 1 Theme
As if that wasn’t enough information for you, the Achievements have also been revealed. They can be viewed in the Wiki so you know exactly what you have to do get the full 200 Gamerpoints. There is also a nice video embedded just below, as well as a load of screenshots over on X-Power.
All in all, it’s something to get very excited about. With a release mid-June, this will certainly keep many people happy over the Summer months. Hopefully the pricing will be reasonable, but even at 1200 MS Points, many people will still buy this. The Achievements are a nice mix of objectives too, and all in all the game looks to be great. The 3D nature might not be what everyone is used to (2D Bomberman FTW right?) but the charm that Bomberman carries seems to have made it through the transition of dimensions, according to the video at least.

w00tage. I may just have to get this, though 800 would have been a sweeter price point, what with all the DLC they have lined up.
“Because you demanded it…” hehe
.::Y A W N::.
If it’s anything like the bomberman ‘93 on the wii virtual console, I will get it in a heartbeat. For all of last semester, we had nightly bomberman games in our dorm suite.
Now this is the bomberman i have come to love.
Seriously dude, why are suggesting 1200 points… 800 is reasonable based on the fact that they’re already telling us there will be 3 more packs to finish out the game, which themselves could be 400 or more each.
That said, I love this game.
If you prepare for the worst, then you won’t be angry. If it’s cheaper than what you estimate, you’ll be delighted
Nice will be a must buy for me.
Not since the days of Bomberman on SNES have I been this excited about a BM game.
Awesome… This will be a contender for the best XBLA for me. We still fire up the SNES emulator on my old Xbox and play 4 player games of Bomberman 2,3,4.
