Forza 2: Lights are Gold; demo contest
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines and prepare for the biggest racing event this side of Christmas: Forza Motorsport 2 has finally gone Gold, and will be with us at the end of May in the US, and the beginning of June for the EU. Also, if you’ve been enjoying the demo, there is a little competition for you.
Starting with the competition since that’s important, you have to try and set the best time possible on the demo track in one of the three cars specified. A quick warning though: thanks to the weekend disrupting the news and what-not, this competition expires on the 15th May, so you don’t have a lot of time now unfortunately. If you still want to compete, you need to follow a few rules:
- What you need: An Xbox 360 with Xbox Live Gold Membership. A copy of the Forza Motorsport 2 demo. A digital camera of some sort to take a picture of your TV screen.
- How to compete: Place hotlap times in any of the 3 classes in the demo (C, A, and R2) using the following cars: C class = 2003 Nissan Fairlady Z; A class = 2005 Ford GT; R2 class = 2005 Maserati #35 Risi Competizione MC12. After you are satisfied with your hotlap time, take a photo of the post-race scoreboard and post that screenshot in this subforum. A moderator will update the first page of the thread with the top 3 fastest times for each class. This thread is for posting hotlap times only. If you want to discuss techniques and your times, please create a thread in this subforum. Failure to follow this rule after an initial warning will result in your disqualification.
- Assists: You may use any assists you see fit to achieve your lap times. Just keep in mind that the cool kids don’t use ABS.
- Contest Window: The contest will run from 11th May until 11:59pm Tuesday, May 15th, 2007.
- Winners: First place winners in each of the classes will win a Forza Motorsport 2 Xbox 360 faceplate, along with an official Forza Motorsport 2 license plate frame (for your real world car). Second and third place runner-ups in each of the classes will receive the Forza Motorsport 2 license plate frame. You are ineligible for prizes (but have plenty of bragging rights) if you do not reside in North America. Sorry.
As for the full game, well, that has now gone to the printing press and it’s job done for Turn10. They will have to get back to do some DLC at some point, but for the time being at least, there is nothing more to be worked on. Great news and hopefully a job well done.
Check out the Weekly Pitpass Report for a lot more information on the demo, as well as tidbits of othr information about the game.
Thanks to CODI CORNNATRON and Nekro for submitting.

What’s to stop some of the people really good at photoshop from editing the picture?
I find this extremely amusing, because the faceplate is ugly (in my opinion) and the license plate frame looks as if it was made in 2 seconds. Also just my opinion. But I know this because most EB Games and Gamestop employees got these accessories for free from the Microsoft Executives.
So people go out there and win yourself a copy of Forza, because the other stuff is just trash.
Does somebody know if the US-Version of Forza2 will also be playable in Europe?

No, you have to wait until 8th of june
How can you be so sure? Not all of Microsofts games are region locked. Gears of war and Viva Pinata for instance are region free.
The US version will not be playable in Europe unless you have modded your system, and most likely still wont work, and if it is modded and works then no online multiplayer.
First off, you can buy the Forza faceplate at Gamestop. (I work there, I know)
Second, this game sux.
No this game is the best racing game ever , it’s you that suck
PGR….Nuff said.^
Dont judge the game prematurely. it can lead to you eating some humble pie
I played the demo…and the pie you refer to was ass flavored. Viva La PGR
Let me mess with my car settings to gain an extra second or two. Not my slice of pie and that is why I prefer a more simplistic approach such as PGR where I do not need to change my gear ratio like Forza.
If you are into it then I could see why you would love Forza as you could spend countless hours tweaking your car for a half second on your lap time.
I was a massive fan of Gran Turismo. Based on what i’ve read and the demo itself it looks to improve on what Gran Turismo did. Especially with the online element. I really can’t wait for this. I’ve booked a week off work. Sad but exciting!! \o/
Have been playing the demo for 4 days now and my time is 50.381 in the mc12 but on the forza forums there down to the 49 sec ,at least the top 3 are .
I hope i will be able to put down a 49 as well.
Meaby plug in controller to get it .
But that steering weels is just to nice.
Wow thats a good time, my best is about 52 secs.
I really want to get the steering wheel but i’m unsure about the setup. Does it sit on your lap or do you need to nail it down on a surface, i know you can get those things to sit on so its secure but thats not a option for me. Does it come with pedals??
you can put it on your lap or clamp it to a small table or by a playseat like i did
have a look overhere for homemade cockpit’s
there are a few of them over here also a few small setups
That isn’t my setup but i got the same seat
only diffrent collors.
It does come with pedals and like i sad you can put it on your lap even with clamp on it thats what i dit first week i had it that way it sits real nice but still i would recomend to clamp it on something steardy like a small bookshelf or something on your lap thats much more steardy while steering.
