The Prince of Persia series has transformed in many different ways since the release of its first title in 1989: the 3D action gameplay that has evolved it, however, will not be present in Ubisoft’s latest installment. As previously rumored, Prince of Persia Classic, a recreation of the unforgettable Apple II hit, will be available this summer for Xbox Live Arcade.

Rather than simply re-releasing the same, aged version, Gameloft (under Ubisoft’s supervision) has recreated the entire game to please gamers of the next-generation. The new 2.5-D visuals are graced with smooth animations and advanced lighting that will likely please fans both the previous version and updated version alike.

In addition to the overhauled graphics engine, Gameloft has also added new puzzles and enemies in hopes of refreshing the experience for past players. Since the title will not arrive until sometime this summer, a definite price has not yet been confirmed: Prince of Persia Classic, however, has already earned the ESRB rating of Teen.
