Raven partnering with UW on new Wolfenstein game
It’s no secret that a new Wolfenstein game is in the works for the 360, but some new info has surfaced courtesy of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Raven Software is partnering with the University on the new game, but probably not in the way you would think.

Meet Carrie Coon, recent graduate of UW-Madison’s master’s program in theater. Coon is working for Raven as the motion capture model for an Elite assassin for the upcoming Wolfenstein game. Raven is also using Coon’s face as the model for the character. While there isn’t much info about the new game, Coon’s stiletto-heeled assassin will be one of the prominent characters in the game according to Robert Gee, project lead for Raven.
Gee also had this to say on the importance of qualified actors and the use of motion capture.
The actors are vital. The technology is there and we keep upgrading it, but we’ve got to have the right actors showing the right qualities of behavior. When you’re animating by hand something that really requires the subtleties of human body language, it just looks wrong.
I said to Carrie, what I need from you is a sensual, strong, arrogant woman who knows that every man in the village would like to spend even one minute with her. And she flaunts it because she’s cruel. She enjoys putting them down.
Raven auditions the UW-Madison students looking for the “right blend of acting finesse and physical skills that will translate well in their characters.” WISC-TV, a local Madison news channel also ran a story on the studio and the motion capture acting and added that the game has a planned release of 2008.
