Croteam get a publisher for new game

Remember Serious Sam? Remember how funny and great it was to just shoot first and ask a few questions later? Well Croteam, the developers, are now working on a new project and have managed to sign up Gamecock Media Group for their publishing ability, not their amusing name.

Using the Serious Engine 3, Croteam hope to push the limits of the new generation hardware. The currently unnamed project is set to ship in 2009, so it will be a while yet before we here much on the game. It will ship for the PC and “specific next-gen consoles”, which suggests that one of the three will miss out (Wii?). IGN managed to get a reply to an email they sent to get more information on the game, which read the following:

“The folks at Croteam have spent the last year cranking on their engine and some pre-production for this title. It’s definitely in a genre they are familiar with and will exploit their experience. As you can see by the screens, they have made a graphical leap since their last title and given they have a lot of experience in building rich environments, expect all the bells and whistles. These guys also have a strong sense of style and design, so you will find the premise and gameplay intriguing. I wish I could say more, but this title is pretty far out…well, maybe I can say one more thing. You know that the one thing Croteam is the best at - better than most every other developer in the world - is making games that are frantic and, most importantly, fun. This title is definitely both of those things.”

This seriously (sorry) suggests that they will be hard at work on a new FPS, since that is the field they are used to. If you look at the screens above, it seems the game is taking a slightly serious feel to it, despite the email suggesting otherwise. A nitty gritty environment with a maniac running around blowing everything up? Yes please!

That third screenie looks like they superimposed a badly rendered game over a serious war-scene shot?

All 3 shots breathe ‘badly rendered GRAW2′ to me anyway.

She’s not pretending to be a videogame tho.

curry’s mom? or the game?.

I say BOTH!

Looks pretty damned impressive, but I wouldn’t be shocked to here its a pre-render or a photoshop jobbie. I’ve been hurt before.

If that’s supposed to be a war-torn setting, then why are all the windows in the first screen perfectly shaped squares/rectangles?

first impression: looks nice.
second impression: why the hell is everything so perfectly broken down in straight lines?
3rd impression: yeh the 3rd screenie looks strange, the tank doesn’t fit in.

Wow that looks truly amazing. The first screenshot to me is the most impressive. At first glance it looks real. The detail is amazing. I mean look at those tracks in the dirt!!!
