There is a place in this world for games designed for children, which somehow work out to be just as entertaining for adult gamers alike. The LEGO Star Wars games have been testament to this and now, the wonderful brick destroying game will be making a next-generation appearance for the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

The partnership between developer Traveller’s Tales and LucasArts continues in this next LEGO Star Wars feature. Previous titles in the series, LEGO Star Wars and Star Wars II covered the new films and the Original Trilogy, but this new title will encompass the entire Star Wars saga from beginning to end.

From the Trade Federation’s “negotiations” with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace to the space battle above Endor in Return of the Jedi, The Complete Saga allows players to kick some brick through 36 Story Mode levels, including Episode II’s newly added high-speed pursuit of bounty hunter Zam Wessell.

In the press release, Tom Stone, director at TT Games, had this to say;

“As we usher in the next generation of videogame consoles, LucasArts is leading the way in family entertainment,” said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. “We’re proud of the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars II and how it delivered all the fun, humour and action of the Original Trilogy to the entire family. Now, with The Complete Saga, we’re excited to finally offer the entire saga playable in one package for the first time ever.”

“LucasArts was an amazing partner on LEGO Star Wars II, and working with them on The Complete Saga continues to be a great experience. We’re also thrilled to be focusing on next-generation consoles and creating content that plays to the strength of each system.”

Both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will have drop in/drop out online functionality, allowing players across the globe to act out the story together in High-Definition graphics. The Wii and Nintendo DS will be getting other control schemes to compliment the unique controls of each system.

The Complete Saga will revamp the original LEGO Star Wars to compliment advances in gameplay made in Star Wars II and will mix all the characters from the prequel to more than 160 in total. That’s a lot of brick people to annihilate with a lightsaber.

No release date yet confirmed, however the website mentions a “Fall 2007.”
