Need For Speed: Prostreet officially announced

About a week ago EA released a CGI trailer for an upcoming Need for Speed game, but nothing official was announced at that point. Today the thirteenth iteration of Need For Speed was revealed and will henceforth be know as Need For Speed: ProStreet.

It looks like this game is going to become another Need For Speed Underground, but this time the tuning part is going to even get a bigger role. You’ll be traveling all over the world to participate in multi-disciplinary showdowns to race against other street racers. Obviously the graphics will be improved, but this time there will be extra focus on the ‘Autosculpt’ technology which impacts the car’s performance as you crash it into objects.

Need for Speed ProStreet boasts impeccable precision and impressively detailed photo-realistic graphics, effectively transporting you to the center of the action. It pushes the “Autosculpt™” technology to a new level, allowing you to directly impact your car’s performance for the first time as well as personalize its appearance. Need for Speed ProStreet is a true taste of raw adrenaline and racing with consequences. Every dent, every scratch and every crumpled body panel is a battle scar, proof of your commitment and competitive mettle. With an aggressive and skilled AI system, you become immersed in an unmatched believable race experience. Add in a revolutionary online mode that will redefine the meaning of competitive social play, and Need for Speed ProStreet is the ultimate formula for an emotionally charged street racing showdown.

In our last news post about this game we referred you to this website which has a counter on it. At the time of writing there’s still over 2 hours remaining but the new trailer will probably appear there. Not much has been added since the previous trailer, just a bit more CGI and the new logo. You might as well just click the play button below. The official Need For Speed ProStreet website can be found here.

The game will hit the shelves this Fall and will be available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Psp, Wii, Nintendo DS, PC and mobiles. Are you ready for another Need For Speed game or is it time for EA to put an end to this?

Unless they plan to fully test the game (Carbon’s achievement bugs come to mind), EA just needs to put the Need for Speed series to rest.

i agree with u

I liked most wanted, with the insane cop chases.

The wreck that the video showed looked pretty cool

Not really surprising from a CGI movie ;)

Better have cops. Lots of cops, and unlike Carbon, cops better be important.
Without cops, NFS is just another racing game.

Another year another NFS. You really think EA are gonna put this series to rest. It sells like crazy, every year without fail. I personally have a love hate affair with the titles, but hey it will be good to see what they come up with this time. It only seems like Carbon just came out….I’m just waiting to see, Midnight Club:LA and what Rockstar has in store, its been a long wait.

They need to take a break. Maybe 2-3 years, put some fresh ppl on it with new ideas and maybe steal a bit from PGR, TDU and F2. It would almost seem as if NFS:MW was good by accident while the rest of the series sucked bad for many years.

boooooooo nfs has been just as much/if not more repetitious than WW2 games. underground was great then it was ust the same damn thing over and over. not to mention the rediculous achievements for carbon.

this game has not been good since its first release on the 3DO just the same old bullshit

NFS and Killing Time were my favorite games on the doomed 3DO.

I hope consumers will smarten up soon, who buys this crap? EA is a company that operates in the dark if you ask me! Activision heard the cries “WWII games are getting stale!” so they listened and changed. EA will keep raping the assholes of their customers and ignore their cries of discomfort!
I hope Midnight Club:LA and Forza just destroy NFS this year.
I don’t give a flying flip about Forza 2 (the demo BLEW) but I am completely stoked for MC:LA

EA need to revive the NFS Motor City online IP.XBL would suit it peferctly.

perfectly*

EA plus anything MMO related would revive old arcade feelings: “Insert Coin to play”
