Marathon: Durandal rated by USK
The USK seem to be taking a leaf out of the ESRB’s book by announcing a new game headed for the Arcade. Originally developed by Bungie (yes, they have made games prior that semi-famous one with lasers), Marathon: Durandal was originally released way back in 1994. Now it is back to remind you all of where Halo began.
The game is a first person shooter, and the second iteration was the first in the series to be officially released, on both Windows 95 and the Apple Macintosh back in 1994. The game is also a sci-fi themed game, and even back then featured some multiplayer modes; co-op and deathmatch (as well as a bunch of others) were on offer all those years ago.
The game is also split into chapters, with a varying amount of levels contained within. As you can see, the ides for Halo were easy, since Bungie simply had to take all the stuff they created in Marathon over onto the Xbox. Sure enough it worked and continues to work to this day. Isn’t history great?
No release date has been specified, since the USK merely rate the games (and Xbox-Archiv find them). However, what are the chances of this game being released the same week as Halo 3? Place your bets please…

20 EUR says it’ll be released leading up to the launch of Halo 3.
Quote: “The game was a first person shooter”
It still is.
“[…] and the second iteration was the first in the series to be officially released”
It still is that too.
Haha, good spot, thanks.
Looks like a Doom rip off….
the second game was the first to be released? i don’t understand.
“Officially” released.
Its nothing like Doom.
Its about a rampant AI and aliens taking over ships and your a space marine. its narrated by text you read on terminals thoughout the ships. very much like Halo. your a space marine on board a ship hurtling through space and doing battle against Spht! (alien name) and the weapons are very much early iterations of Halos. youll see flying robots that look just like guilty spark. there is about a dozen different alien types.
