The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

Mass Effect for August becomes doubtful

The biggest UK games retailer GAME have updated their listing for Mass Effect and have changed it to January 2008. They sent an email round to all those who have the game on pre-order letting everyone know the changes to the game that was expected in two months time. Are they out of their minds, or closer to the truth than we may think?

Mass Effect’s release date has been talked about a lot, rumoured to be coming in five different months. This new ‘revelation’ makes it the sixth month to be mentioned. There is also a debate in our forums as to whether or not it will ship by September, lingering with Halo 3 on the shelves. Today’s news confirms absolutely nothing, however it is important to remember that retailers are quite well informed.

Of course, to swing this around again: could it be an EU delay only? There’s a whole load of text that will need translating into a million different languages here on the European continent; it could easily slow down the release.

Mass Effect

This is all rumours, and everyone is currently speculating, so make of it what you will. If the game does ship this year, chances are it will be after Halo 3…

Thanks to Jellyman for alerting us to this.

as long as bioware takes their time and makes sure this game lives up to the hype i’ll wait for it. it will be worth it in the end. don’t rush this one man!

This is getting a little silly now, i totally agree that they should not rush it one bit but i wish they wouldnt keep saying(or hinting) it was going to be out at a certain month and then not releasing it. “And thats what really grinds my gears”

Well if they don’t release it a couple months before Halo 3 I got bad news for their sale figures…

Newsflash: Duke Nuke Em Forever to be released on the 360 before Mass Effect.

I’ve thought for a while that it would be foolish to release something too close to the release of Halo3.

I’m willing to wait for this game, but I wish Bioware would meet me halfway(and the rest of the public waiting 4 this) and give a concrete release date. Even if the date is months away it would be nice to know for sure instead of being at the mercy of the rumor mill.

Note to self: Ignore any info on this game at E3 since it’s nothing but a prick tease… NO MORE HYPE! TIRED OF HYPE! This game just moved to my “whatever” list..

They seem to have no problems trolling people along enough to invest in pre-orders.. I didn’t realize it was going to turn into an extended freakin loan..

Expect E3 to bill filled with reports that all major 07 releases will be pushed to mid winter (to later be pushed to summer and eventually christmas 08)

I doubt that will happen. It’s absolutely CRUCIAL for MS to have a killer Fall lineup, one that Sony’s PS3 won’t stand a chance against.

This happens every year. First we are scheduled a killer summer lineup, then pushed to fall, then half those games get delayed a year, while a few get released 5 months apart. Rinse wash repeat.

even without Mass Effect the fall lineup looks great…. and the ps3’s?? not

However long it takes it takes. So be it. They’re promising a lot with the scale of this game, so take your bloody time to do it right. My pre-order is paid in full and I’ll wait. Just don’t let me (us, actually) down BioWare.

I hate to say this, but retailers know jack. They are just as speculative as the fans and non-fans alike. Hoping, praying and eventually going back on their own promises due to things outside of their realms of comprehension.

To take any form of hear-say from a retailer is to be fed dog droppings and loving every mouthful.

I’ll personally stick to my guns and be watching for Mass Effect THIS year, regardless of some lame ass shooter that couldn’t tell a story to a pack of squirrels without having nuts thrown at it.

Cheers!

Hmm, well if the European version is delayed, please pretty please let the US version be region free.

At least they’re not publicly saying, it’s done when it’s done.

What’s really annoying is that the official Bioware forums are just not revealing anything regarding release dates, and in fact go as far as to lockdown post mentioning it.

shit~!

Comment by x El Scorpio x on 2007-06-27 19:40:23 | Reply

that’d be really annoying…BioWare have said a few months ago that they’re polishing & fixing bugs so January 08 is next to impossible if they’re doing that

Comment by Danger Chimp on 2007-06-27 19:42:02 | Reply

I just asked in the BioWare forums whether they could still say that ME would come out this year despite of what GAME said.

A moderator jumped on and said “as far as I know, progress is going really well and Mass Effect will still come out in 2007.”

So GAME can go and f**k itself.
