R6:V Black Pack re-emerging for free [Update]
Rainbow Six: Vegas this week received a new edition to the game, the sequel to the Red Pack if you will. The Black Pack however was all too quickly removed though, for reasons unknown. Now it is known that it was put up for 800 MS Points, when it should have been free. Yes, that says free.
Ubisoft, in a gesture towards loyal fans of the game, are releasing new maps for free, and those that were quick enough to pay upfront will be reimbursed of their points automatically, meaning you could also buy the Red Pack to complete the set.
Update: Those that purchased will actually be reimbursed within 8 to 10 weeks, not instantly as the wording originally suggested. It is advised that you make sure your Xbox Live details are up to date.
Unless you wait until the 6th July of course, when the Red Pack will also be made free of charge, again as a “thank you to the community”. The Black Pack will be going back up at 3AM PT.
This is an excellent move by Ubisoft, but not one without any reason. The PS3 version of Rainbow Six: Vegas will include everything contained within the DLC on the Blu-ray disc anyway, all for no extra charge to what you usually pay for a PS3 game. Clearly consumers were a little upset at that, thus Ubisoft have decided to make it a free-for-all.
It’s unfortunate for those that bought the Red Pack already, but great news for everyone else. At least Ubisoft had the initiative to do this, and something we would all no doubt like to see more of in the future.

Well the Red Pack was up for a while and like the new Gears maps, they will eventually be free.
Unlike the new Gears maps, the Red pack will be free in about a week.

Ha Ha, you were probably one of the people defending the ‘low cost’ of additional maps for this and gears and have now been screwed. Bravo, ten of you pounds down the pan!
This happened because the PS3 version came with these maps. I didn’t think it right for us to pay extra for what they were getting standard. I don’t think this was a “thanks for the support” but more of a “don’t get mad at this being free on another system” !

Hell yeah! Makes me happy that I bought Vegas. It’s a great game as is. Now that I’ve procrastinated and not bought the red pack yet I get it for free

I just bought Red last week, making this a rather crummy bit of news.
Downloading Black now. Going pretty quick for 800 meg download.
Pretty nice maps. I really like Red Lotus, another casino especially an oriental themed one is nice. Wartown is OK, I like the map but the defenders can just go outside and spawn kill the attackers fairly easy. Neon Graveyard is pretty good and I like the Streets Redux, night time adds a lot to it and makes it a better map than the original. Haven’t played Presido yet.

Nothing better to do? Red Lotus is probably my favorite map now. They did a great job with the design of that level! 3 more days till the Red pack is free, looking forward to playing the Conquest mode this weekend.
