Japan going Elite October 11
It’s no secret that Microsoft is underperforming (to say the least) in the Land of the Rising Sun when it comes to its console offering. So what do you do when people don’t buy your marketing strategy, complain about your software library, and keep a long distance away from your product just because it’s too big? Microsoft’s latest answer to the ongoing crisis in Japan is their black devil: Xbox 360 Elite.

The Elite will be found occupying Japanese store shelves on October 11th and will come with all the accessories like its American counterpart. Due to Japan’s much vivid hate dislike of Microsoft’s console, the company is pinning its hopes on the Elite’s price tag which will read 47,800 yen (GBP 194, EUR 286, USD 390). This move should somewhat get rid of Japanese mentality that the 360 is the inferior next-gen console when compared to Sony’s PS3.
This important announcement also begs the question of when Europe will see the release of the 120GB equipped Xbox 360. Microsoft’s initial reasoning behind the Elite releasing in the US prior to Europe was the back-then-questionable success of the Video Marketplace which launched in the US on November 22nd, 2006. Since then, the Video Marketplace took off rapidly and has seen an enormous success, as put into evidence by its double-digit, month-over-month growth. For now, all we can do is sit back and hope that Microsoft will soon make an act to deliver the very coveted digital distribution of video content to European homes, along with releasing the Xbox 360 Elite.
i like my elite, but i prefer the white color of my 20gb one, it’s just better looking i think. the black plastic looks strange after seeing white for this long.

Under £200? That’s fucking disgusting to us Brits that will prolly end up paying £400.
that’s incredibly cheap…anyway the core system should be thrown out of the f’ing window and just stick with 360 & 360 Elite.
3 systems is nearly as bad as the Sega console with different names and 2 Add-ons also with different names which were required for certain games (Mega Drive, Genesis, Sega 32X, Sega CD, etc etc….)
The video marketplace should definitely be turning up in Europe soon
So the Japanese kids think the 360 is too big? Isn’t the PS3 about a pound heavier and larger in volume? Weird.
europe will never get any video marketplace, they’ve had plenty of time to get something sorted and still noting, so we will never get it
So let me get this straight….If you sell millions in your home country, no price drop for you, but they can’t sell over 100k in Japan, and boom, heres a price drop.
Meh Im waiting on Elite’s to come in stock here in Canada, can’t find them anywhere, among the midst that the hardware is bugged and still having problems from the first batch.

£200 Elite in Europe would be fine by me
Anyway i think i will just buy a shitload of black controllers instead of upgrading to Elite and buy a core with a black gloss look case for a total of £175 instead cheaper and much cooler:D
