EA announces NFL Tour and Mirror’s Edge
Even though E3 doesn’t “officially” start for another day, many companies have started the unveiling of new titles. EA has already revealed a significant amount of new info regarding new titles, and they have just revealed yet another- a new listened American football title. NFL Tour, a more casual spin on the infamous sport, will “bring the spectacle of a traveling NFL road show alive, with intuitive controls, fast-paced gameplay, and visually stunning graphics.”
Upon first glance, NFL Tour sounds just like what the company did with the Street franchise, which applied a fantasy element to real players and teams. However, EA Sports hopes to instill a realistic, yet laid-back, feel to their latest title. Taking place in stadiums created by EA Tiburon, players will compete to earn a NFL contract with the help of real NFL stars.
“We are extremely excited about our new arcade football game, NFL Tour, which will provide players with a brand new exciting football experience,” said Executive Producer Dale Jackson. “NFL Tour is a fun, action-packed football game that will appeal not only to football enthusiasts, but also to casual gamers.”
Feel free to check out the official site for NFL Tour; a definite release date has not been provided as of yet, but EA has noted that the title will appear on shelves sometime in 2008 through the teaser on the site.
In addition to the announcement of NFL Tour, EA has also unveiled Mirror’s Edge, a action title from DICE (the creators of the Battlefield franchise). The title will encourage players to maneuver through environments like a real person, even though the title takes place in a first-person perspective.
“We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game,” comments the game’s Senior Producer Owen O’Brien.
Nothing else is known about Mirror’s Edge as of now, but be sure to return to Xboxic during E3 this week, as new details regarding this title will likely unearth.

Umm…they did this years ago. It’s called Breakdown, by Namco ( -Bandai, now ). One of the better games that most people have never heard of for the original Xbox.
