E3: Sega confirms XBLA Vintage Collection

The SEGAs of America and Europe totally unexpectedly announced five popular titles from their rich Genesis back catalogue are to be released on Xbox Live Arcade. Besides the already available Golden Axe and Sonic the Hedgehog titles there’s three more gems heading our way.

Because it’s vintage, baby!

Ecco the Dolphin - Help Ecco the Dolphin find his missing friends by exploring his vast ocean world. You must surface for air and keep an eye out for enemies as you search the depths.

Streets of Rage 2 - The city once again returned to its nightmarish state and criminals ran rampant. Axel and Blaze team up with Skate and Max Thunder to free the city and rescue their friend Adam from the Syndicate. It is up to you to take down Mr. X once and for all!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Dr. Eggman (AKA Dr. Robotnik) begins his zealous search for the Chaos Emeralds to fuel his new “Death Egg” contraption. Fortunately, Sonic will thwart the Doctor’s plans at all costs. This time, he isn’t alone, as Tails decides to aid him in the battle.

All titles are to feature enhanced graphics and the full usual range of leaderboards and achievements, while the Streets of Rage and Sonic sequels are also going to follow Golden Axe in offering full Xbox Live multiplayer modes. As with all retro titles, the games will be offered at an attractive 400 MSP price point, and they should all be available soon.

Credits to DJ Dunk for the submit this time.

That game was fantastic…Imagine it with ‘live’ multiplayer?

You need to find you a woman and quick man! lol

hotdamn!!!! i gotta go pick me up some more points too! w00t for the sega vintage collection, but please release a sonic with knuckles, hes the fuckin man!

Kind of makes me wish I didn’t have both on the Wii. Now it’s a race to see who can release Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic 3 first!

If they don’t release the combined version I’ll punch someone in the nose.

My girlfriend had a mega drive and streets of rage 2 when i first met her, she also had loads of other great games.

One day when i’m over at hers i ask her if we can have a spin on it. She turns to me and says “Sorry babe, i decided to have a clear out and sold it all for a fiver ($9).

I could’ve cried, but i went mental at her and told her that i would have given her £50 for it, i then didn’t speak to her for a week.

Silly cow.

UK JAY: indeed i was and for your information i had sonic the day it came out so many years ago, so how about you leave me and my opinions alone and fuck off to your non modified game, most other old games at least got a bit of revamp this is just the same as the game i have on my phone

Comment by Phocas on 2007-07-13 23:31:26 | Reply

WoW calm down psycho!! Who the hell would have the balls to “revamp” a classic like sonic. Your a fucking retard if you can’t acknowlegde how badass Sonic was when it came out. 16-Bit FTW!!!

History is best served in its purest form… with Live multiplayer!
