Forza 2 getting patched this week [Update]

Word has spread via the Weekly Pitpass Report that Forza 2 will be patched this week. The patch has made it through certification and is pretty much ready to go. Also, there is news that the leaderboards won’t be wiped out, but some of you may lose some times you have posted.

Update: The patch is already Live. Contents after the jump.

Firstly, the patch will fix the following:

  • Deny gifting and reselling of cars with locked paintjobs. Why? Because this will help alleviate the problem where an artist’s precious limited edition car gets duplicated and sold on the Auction House. The only way you can sell or gift a car with a locked livery is by being the original owner/artist of the car.
  • A temporary ban on the Lotus Elan use on scoreboards and in multiplayer. Why? There is an error with the Lotus Elan’s performance index calculation that puts the car at a lower class despite its capabilities, resulting in the Elan mass dominating the scoreboards in D and C class. This temporary ban will not allow you to upload lap times to the scoreboards when you use the car in career mode, and prohibits you from using the car at all in online races. When we roll out our permanent PI fix for the Elan in a future patch, we’re going to lift the ban. Sorry for the draconian measure — we really didn’t like imposing this sort of restriction on the community but this is necessary.
  • Allow cars to be fully rotated while being viewed in the Auction House. Why? Because so many of you asked for the camera to be unlocked in Auction House so you can look at the paintjob on the roof of the car we thought we should do good by the community.
  • A number of scoreboard problems have been fixed. These range from the glitch where if the AI did not relinquish control of your car after the rolling start, you would inadvertently post a corrupt superhuman lap time in the micro-seconds, to several “extreme” physics bugs folks have been exploiting to get crazy fast lap times (lag crash boosting and the shifting glitch).
  • Removed host’s ability to boot players during a race. Why? Because this feature, although handy at times, was getting abused by hosts who kicked folks who were in the lead of a race where the stakes were high (i.e., credits were on the table). Don’t worry, you can still kick people to your heart’s content in the lobby.
  • Miscellaneous fixes aplenty. Like what? Various discovered Auction House bugs that could potentially cause players to lose credits or cars. At least one triple-screen bug fix for sync’ing issues, as well as an undiscovered quickmatch bug that always connected you to the same game upon attempt.

You will notice the banning of the car Elan from uploading to leaderboards, which brings us nicely to the second point. It seems there is an error with the car as explained above, so all times posted with that particular car are to be removed from the leaderboards. This is instead of a mass wipe out of all times ever, so those unhappy can now be silent.

Other issues within tournaments, where some players have reported that they haven’t be progressing properly despite winning, are being looked into, but for now will not be fixed.

Hopefully this is a patch that will be welcomed by the community, and there is more information on the official site for other competitions running at the moment, and winners of previous tournaments.

LMAO - amazing how someone can be literate enough to discuss Anti-Aliasing, but then fail to form a sentence!

Uhg… miyedurtz.

Thanks. They are working on something just to clear the Elan times so hopefully that will be done for when the 2nd patch is tested, hopefully soon. The update should be today but not at home to check at the moment. Awaiting confirmation on the DLC date for tracks and cars. Could do with some new tracks.

Nice one have you tested it Random Guy. The auction is supposed to be better ie able to rotate the car to see the paint work

Only issue I have is with removing the ability to kick in race.

It’s really lame when some assclown spins you out or is yelling nonstop in your ear, and you have to sit through a 5 lap race with them, while they somehow get first or second place.

Jmel. Yeah agree. Can understand why they did it but rather than kick should have had the ability to mute and turn there car into a ghost with no Cr payout to them. At least you can kick in the lobby

does anyone else get the feeling that they are blaming the community for every one of these glitches. yeah, people are douchebags for glitching top times, but should they really be banned? it was the devs fault for leaving these holes on the code, and it was the devs fault for not patching them immediately when they got discovered. just get it fixed, and take some damn responsibility for your mistakes! can’t gift locked paintjobs because they STILL can’t fix the copying exploit? blow me. i bought the car, i should be able to do what i want with it. it is a shot in the foot on the whole system. ooh! and no more losing hundreds of thousands of credits in the auction house??? what a dream come true! the game is good, but only a collection of assholes releases a patch like this with an undertone of blame. can’t boot people from your own race because the world is such a collection of dipfucks? let us suffer and drown in our own crapulence, don’t force us to endure one another’s shit slinging until we all kill each other. how about an option to ghost the offensive player at least? a little common sense goes an awfully long way.

The devs have a hugely elitist attitude, coupled with the fact that because they spent so much time on “sound” and “physics” that they think its “okay” that they left out things like “testing” and “tracks from forza 1″.

I bought this game but I probably should have rented it instead. It’s just like how pgr guys said that this time they “won’t rush it (pgr4)” like they did with pgr1 and 3.

Devs like this will learn when we stop buying their half ass broken games.

Sokay tho, because if we’re nice, and lucky, and the devs think we are worthy, I’m sure they’ll sell us the regurgitated old tracks just like other devs keep doing with maps and songs and other such “content” on the “marketplace”

I want a drag track, a long stright line…

Sorry for my bad english, I`m from norway;-)

Your english is fine. Most people don’t care if there is a grammatical/spelling eror as long as you aren’t being a jerk or insulting someone else.

For all of you that want a drag strip, go buy the NHRA drag racing game. Some of us want to actually race an event that is not over in 6 seconds.
No dragstrip please, just more tracks more tracks more tracks!!!!

Typo:”You will notice the banning of the car Edan” Elan. :D

Typo:”You will notice the banning of the car Edan”…

…should have read…

“You will notice the banning of the cheese Edam.”…

…which apparently is all to do with several wedges of Emmental cheese complaining about Edam’s superior aerodynamic drag co-officient.

Fear the red sphere - for it cuts better through the atmosphere than this chunk of Emmental just here!

Redbull gives you wings.

@ mu

Cheaters should be banned. No sympathy. Saying that its the devs fault because they left bad code is rather stupid. Thats the same as saying the murderer who shoots three people dead shouldn’t be held accountable, rather the company that produced the ammunition should be responsible. Fuck that!

I’m sure that there was some more testing that could’ve been done, but that doesn’t absolve anybody from personal liability.

Dont’ cheat, and you won’t get a ban. Sounds simple enough in theory, but its a whole other story in practice.

have you seen the speed cheat? it is so easy to do, i would be surprised if it didn’t happen to some people totally accidentally. if it was a murder, there would be a trial, but dropping the ban hammer on people who post low lap times is going a little to far without the luxury of due process. it is incredibly obvious which times have been glitched. just get rid of the times, and get rid of the glitch. it is not like in an fps where a glitcher can absolutely destroy a game. i hate glitchers too, but they are just exploiting what should be temporary mistakes. the problem arises when these mistakes don’t get fixed. like this copying exploit. it should be much more difficult to pull this off. but instead, they are saying we can’t trade our cars with designs? that is not fucking cheating. trading your cars with art is part of the game. there are more examples of how inefficient their system is, but the bottom line is, it is getting much too easy to glitch in every game! they are spending less time on QA, and even when the community drives the bugs to the surface, they are taking way to long to fix them, IF they do at all. some of the people that are gtting banned were simply playing the single player game the way they wanted, but since their times get posted to the leaderboards, they got banned. i don’t know, but it seems like there is a lack of balance. not every glitch is cheating, not every glitcher is a cheater, and not every cheater is a glitcher. the world is less black and white than it may first appear.

the speed cheat is just another glitch and yes ive tried it and its not all that fun to do

Comment by mu on 2007-07-23 21:08:06 | Reply

nice one completely missing the point. remind me not to waste my time with you next time huh?

Comment by mu on 2007-07-23 21:09:23 | Reply

oh, sorry, didn’t even read your name, my mistake.
and you are entirely correct, the glitch is boring, as are many, but should they be punishable by death when they are so easy to do that they may happen accidentally to some?
