Dead Rising sequel still in consideration

Some publishers are talking sequels way ahead of time, while others seem to be unconvinced of the success of their games even when they reach the million-copies-sold milestone. One such publisher is, curiously enough, Capcom. Despite fans’ positive feedback and very apparent craving for a follow-up, a Dead Rising sequel is still being considered.

Make Dead Rising 2! That’s an order!

In an interview with Game Informer, Keiji Inafune, the man responsible for bringing Dead Rising and Lost Planet to Microsoft’s console, explained as to why a sequel to the 360 exclusive zombie game is not in production yet:

This is something we hear a lot from the press — Dead Rising 2, and we’re not making it right now, but it is something I would love to make. I would love to be able to take some time off from my business-side responsibilities just to be able to produce it myself — that’s how much I love the game and would love to do it. But there are a lot of things that come into play. There’s staffing, there’s scheduling — who’s working on what — then there’s budget and money, where’s the money coming from? So there are a lot of small things to work out before that would even be possible… If it was announced, I might be the one back in Japan making it. That’s the title that they’re considering back in Capcom Japan that I would want to produce the most, out of anything they’re thinking about. That’s how much I really love it. But I’m very busy.

Excuse our egocentric nature Mr. Inafune, but busy or not, we want that sequel, and we want it soon!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Dead Rising is the best 360 game released to date.

But what about the rumored co-op patch and platnum edition stuff?

No word yet on that.

Confirmed fake.

In my books it’s one of the best. An open sandbox game in a mall, with zombies, top notch fmv, two hot females, mad pyscho’s, and heaps of weapons. There’s just heaps to do!

Im gonna agree that Dead rising was a great game, but if you look at Capcoms plate, and what they have to offer, A Dead Rising sequel is probably low on their list despite its sales.

Capcom has Devil May Cry, and not to forget RE5 as their pride and joys, and once those are out the window and fleshed out, I think we will finally see a Dead Rising sequel.

But I think its still a year and a half off,

My bad, double post…

Dead Rising is my top 360 game for sure. It was totally next gen at the time, and it still is highly original. I probably want RE5 more than DR2 however.

I know I am going to get shunned for this, but I didn’t really like Dead Rising. Just wasn’t really my type of game.

Loved until I found out I couldn’t read the text!
Did that get fixed btw?

I don’t think so … I played it on a monitor so I didn’t have any problems with that.

i think if they did managed to develop coop play for dead rising they will see a huge resurgence in DR1 sales. the lack of online play made this game mediocre at best for me, and the lack of ANY online play was another huge blow. i don’t like to play alone. i will pay for the damn coop patch at this point, but if they offer it for free, everyone who has it will force one of their friends to go out and buy it.

agreed… i would gladly pay for the co-op patch, and my brother said he would go buy the game if we could play together (in different states)
