Today, we have some news regarding the Xbox 360 version of the next WWE video game which we are sure will delight any wrestling fan. The news regarding the game, which has the extremely original title of WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, is straight from Comic-Con in San Diego. As well as news though, there is a video showing the new fighting styles that will be in the game.

The guys over at IGN got to play WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 at Comic-Con in San Diego. They had a nice choice of WWE Superstars to pick from to try out. The game build that they were playing gave them the option of being John Cena, Kane, Randy Orton, Triple H, Undertaker, Bobby Lashley, Chris Masters, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio or The Sandman. Yes, that’s right. One of the original ECW wrestlers, The Sandman, is in WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008.

Due to the fact that this is the first WWE game that will feature ECW Superstars, the IGN guys instantly decided to play as the only ECW wrestler that was available to them. According to them, he entered true to form by coming out of a door beside the mob of the cheering crowd with his signature can of beer in one hand and Singapore cane in the other. Once more staying true to life, he downs some of the beer, smashes the can off his head and then spews the beer into the air. After that, he pushes his way through the crowd and over the barricade before holding the Singapore cane up in the air.

One thing that IGN was impressed by is the simplicity and depth of the controls system. Like in years gone by, the left analog stick will move the wrestler you are playing as, while the right analog stick will be in charge of simple grapples. The run button has been changed this year, and is now controlled by holding one of the shoulder buttons. Another thing that has been changed is that of the submission system. The person performing a submission will now use an analog stick to apply pressure, while the person in the submission will use the right analog stick to match the movements of an onscreen lock to break the hold.

The main menu will consist of Quick Play, Exhibition, Create modes and online. Once more this year, you’ll have the option to create your own move sets, stables, superstars, entrances and championships. In the Create a Superstar mode, you’ll have more then 200 new items to make your own Superstar look better then ever. I’m personally really looking forward to trying out this game online and the improved Create a Superstar mode.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 is looking great, and is a game that I can’t wait to buy. It is scheduled for release this November on Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
