Marathon and Spyglass Board Games now available

Another Wednesday, another two XBLA games released. This trend has been running for a good while now and we certainly hope it won’t come to a halt anytime soon. The latest two XBLA releases keeping the trend going are Marathon: Durandal and Spyglass Board Games, both now available for download on the Marketplace.

Bungie’s classic Marathon: Durandal comes in at 800 MSP and is available in all Xbox Live regions. Due to its ESRB “M” rating, underage gamers lusting for a nice classical shooter will have to look elsewhere.

Spyglass Board Games will cost you the standard 400 MSP. Unlike Marathon: Durandal, this collection of board games can be enjoyed by all Xbox Live members, regardless of their age.

  • Content: Spyglass Board Games

Check out the full version of Spyglass, a fun new take on classic board games, like Chess, Checkers, Mancala, and Reversi. Play with a friend on Xbox LIVE, or play against the computer. Use the Xbox Live Vision camera to personalize the game board, playing pieces, and video effects. Each game has custom pieces to choose from, such as a rook made of stone or a furry checkers piece. And you can customize the look with textures like marble, silver, and gel. Make each game your very own!

Which of these two will you be buying? Or do you feel like getting both?

I have to say, and I know what popular opinion may be, but the spyglass boardgames is ,actually, a welcome and diverse addition to XBLA.

In an era where PGR4 is dropping content due to media limitations, and where it looks like the PS3 is gathering momentum - I welcome every string that the 360 adds to its bow.

pgr4 ain’t dropping shit.

dropping? lol it never had it, and the fact it doesnt is from a matter of stupidity on their part and saying that textures stopped them from doing something with lighting lol.

As for that second board game with the cameras… HELL YA

Single player chess AI appears to be a little bit too easy to beat, so I guess most of it’s value is in on-line play.

But… I wish it would support two LOCAL players… Now, THAT would be fun :)

He’s gotta be 14.

Ahem, anyway Marathon is quite good. I would reccomend it to anybody who likes doom or shooters with a bit af grey matter fodder. Some of the story and puzzle are pretty sweet. I’m also no sixty something in the survival worldwide leaderboard out of 600 (last time I checked). Sweet!

ugh…thank god for trials.

I thought I was going to buy Marathon for the nostalgia factor alone. Played the trial yesterday and I’m soooo happy I didn’t buy before trying.

Me did not likes.
