Track and Field sprints onto the Arcade

If you head over to the Xbox Live Arcade this afternoon, you will find that as promised, Track and Field is now available for download. It’s retro, sure, but a game that was regarded as awesome in its time. Nostalgia here we come!

Courtesy of Major Nelson:

  • Content: Track & Field
  • Price: 400 Microsoft Points
  • Availability: All Xbox Live regions
  • Dash Text: Single Player, Xbox LIVE Multiplayer 1-4, Local Multiplayer 1-4, HD (High Definition). Step into the winner’s circle with six classic events to test your skills. Race in the 100mDash and 110mHurdles, test your skills with the Javelin and Hammer Throw, and hop to it with the Long Jump and High Jump. Compete with up to four players on Xbox LIVE and global rankings will compare your skills and announce the World Champion.

This game should be a treat over Live, so let us know in the comments how it sizes up compared to the fond memories we have of the original.

“Nostalgia here we come!” should read “Broken pads and wrist cramp here we come” :D This was one of the games I wanted remade for XBLA since forever. Just The Simpsons arcade, Outrun, Bank Panic and Mr DO to go.

wasn’t this the game the NES had with the floor-pad, that you would run/jump on?

no, but the game you’re talking about kicked ass.

I used to use my hands instead of my feet so I could get the little guy running faster and jumping longer.

I tried it, then bought it. (I’m old, I had played it many times in crap old days)

Nothing spectacular… but it’s fun with friends over… or online.
It’s worth 5 bucks 2 me.
