New GTA IV details

The unforeseen delay of Grand Theft Auto IV was a bitter pill to swallow. Fans across the world cried in misery and disappointment as they slowly realized that they would have to come to grips with another long wait for their anticipated game. As means to reduce the pain somewhat, we bring you a new batch of information on GTA IV.

Courtesy of Mattyblog, we’ve compiled a nice summary of all the new details recently found in the latest issues of Xbox 360 World UK, PSU3 Magazine UK, Xbox 360 Magazine UK, and finally Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK:

  • Niko can have several missions active at one time, cycling through them via your phone’s ‘To Do’ list.
  • And in the middle of a mission, Niko can take on entirely different jobs.
  • Niko can pay double the amount to make the taxi drivers drive twice as fast.
  • The Xbox 360 Version of the game is 80% complete.
  • The itself is set in October 2007.
  • Pedestrians also Cough, Sneeze, Smoke and Mutter in their breath.
  • Hardly any duplicate pedestrian models and car models in the same area.
  • Throughout the game, bigger weapons will have to be stashed out of sight or Niko will attract attention.
  • The offices are large with multiple rooms and the jumpy glitchiness of the PS2 titles is largely absent.

Looking back through our previous coverage on the game, it seems your in-game cell phone will serve a good purpose in many aspects of the game. Besides being handy for going through your missions, the phone will enable players to maintain good relationships with other characters and will allow them to access the multiplayer part of the game. Also, the fact that the Xbox 360 edition is already 80% complete suggests that GTA IV will be out sooner than Fall 2008, as some have come to believe.

Look out for more information on GTA IV in the coming weeks.

Cheers to Lotus 111s for submitting.

Seconded.

well then, look again, and again, and again.
At a certain point you will see the truth.
GTA IV FTW!!!!

80% certainly makes you think it should be out sooner, unless the PS3 version is not as complete and there has been agreement to do a simultaneous relase.

Comment by Orenthol on 2007-08-20 09:20:49 | Reply

Well, couldn’t it just as well mean that the PS3 version is nearly complete, but they’re having a hard time compressing the game for Core users? It’s possible!

Comment by Chris on 2007-08-20 15:45:57 | Reply

no they already said its the ps3 thats holding it up, and that “it just means good things for the 360 owners”

Comment by Tater on 2007-08-20 16:42:14 | Reply

Where have they said that?

Comment by Sean on 2007-08-20 18:19:10 | Reply

It’s been mass reported. And think about it - why would they show the 360 version of the game at all of it’s public (and private) showings if the PS3 version is the more complete one?

Comment by Tater on 2007-08-20 19:30:13 | Reply

If its been mass reported show me an article. They have physically stated that the 360 version isn’t ready. Have they said that about the PS3 version?

Comment by Orenthol on 2007-08-21 01:50:15 | Reply

Yeah! Show us an article where Rockstar says this. I’ve only heard an analyst say this — Not Rockstar.

Comment by Orenthol on 2007-08-21 01:52:17 | Reply

Also, Rockstar HAS publicly commented on problems with developing for the 360, whereas they have -not- commented on any problems with the 360. So, really, wouldn’t logic dictate it’s 360 related?

“The itself is set in October 2007.”

The lack of an eighties radio station is the only negative side to me. ;)

No Flock of Seagulls or Talk Talk is a crime!

that sounds cool but, screw it until it at least gets close to comming out. they can cram these details up thier ass.

Comment by Jamzy No 2 on 2007-08-20 12:36:53 | Reply

i think there only saying the gta for 360 is 80% complete because of all the stories about the ps3 version not being near to compleation as the 360 version

Comment by Me on 2007-08-20 14:54:17 | Reply

they are saying is becuase thats the facts, they are rockstar the people making the game they know what they are talking about. stop speculating about shit

Comment by bs3 on 2007-08-20 15:59:55 | Reply

I wanted to play this in October 2007, but I can’t, thanks to PS3.

Comment by Tater on 2007-08-20 16:41:26 | Reply

Where are you getting the info about it being the PS3’s fault? Are you basing this off Michael Patcher, the analyst? Isn’t he the one that said the PS3 will end up the winner of this console generation?

I’m not trying to say that it’s not the ps3’s fault, but before you blame someone shouldn’t you have facts to back up your argument. I remember a couple of weeks ago when he predicted the ps3 to end up winning this generation he was called an idiot.

Comment by Scython on 2007-08-20 23:35:41 | Reply

I was only pointing out that as Rockstar have agreements with both Sony and Microsoft, the game cannot be released until both versions are ready. Makes no difference which is not ready or why. They will both be released together. Then the two extra episodes will fall into line after that time for the 360. Makes no difference to me as I thought the graphics on the last ones were so bad I have no interest in GTA whatsoever.

Comment by enXian on 2007-08-20 17:28:15 | Reply

bye bye. the game have to many months to gold and they are going to stay in old graphics. all of the games right now are developing a new graphics in the new games.
if they finish the game they need to put additional missions or something amazing to try one more time my eyes on him.

Comment by RapidRunn3r on 2007-08-20 18:52:42 | Reply

I disagree with you there. These graphics are AMAZING for a GTA/Sandbox game. Remember how cartoony and crappy the PS2/Xbox games looked to other games? And besides, the RAGE engine was created for this gen and looks great with Table Tennis.

Comment by kris taylor on 2007-08-21 00:10:38 | Reply

im not at all excited about this game
crack down is a much more entertaining concept,
and this has already been done

Comment by JeffW8722 on 2007-08-21 01:37:09 | Reply

If you think about it, every game is a copy of something thats already been done before. I buy a new copy of NCAA FOOTBALL every year for my 360; guess what, its the same as the year before, just updated.

I love the fucking xbots. Some douchebag with absolutely no credibility makes a comment without having ANY inside knowledge about the development of the game and you all buy into it.

It is much more realistic to believe that they cannot fit the game on a shitty DVD9 disc until MS releases the new compression technology. Want to know a big coincidence? THe new compression methodology will not be released until early 2008. What a coincidence.

PS3 versions fault my fucking ass.

Whoever said that it doesnt matter whos fault it was is speaking the truth. The game has to be released simultaneously. It just simply doesnt matter whos at fault for the delay.

Comment by Veritas on 2007-08-21 08:56:33 | Reply

It doesn’t matter who’s at fault, and yet you still posted that to disclaim that it was the PS3’s fault.

As Mass Effect has shown, there’s more than enough room on the DVD…

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-08-21 12:50:34 | Reply

By even posting that you are a fucking hypocrite.

Comment by autoexecw0rm on 2007-08-22 09:07:31 | Reply

I am a hypocrite because I tossed the concept of an alternative explanation for the delay?

Sure…..

I didnt disclaim shit. In my opinion, it is much more believable that it is the 360s fault. You have your own opinion so go in the corner and play with it.

As Mass Effect has shown you can use the same enviroment for the entire game……

“I love the fucking xbots. Some douchebag with absolutely no credibility makes a comment without having ANY inside knowledge about the development of the game and you all buy into it. ”

Followed by:

“It is much more realistic to believe that they cannot fit the game on a shitty DVD9 disc until MS releases the new compression technology. Want to know a big coincidence? THe new compression methodology will not be released until early 2008. What a coincidence. ”

Is why you are a fucking hypocrite, if you can’t see the irony in these two statements following each other then you are a fool as well as a hypocrite.

Unless of course you have some of this inside knowledge you feel others should have before saying anything.

I second the motion and move for more time.
