Need for Speed ProStreet dated for Halloween release

Electronic Arts has announced that Need for Speed ProStreet will be racing onto the Microsoft Xbox 360 on October 31 and November 1 in North America and Europe, respectively. If you didn’t already know, the latest of the developer’s boy racer-em-ups tasks players to build the suped up car of their dreams before pitting their wits against rival drivers – an original concept, no?

Said Executive Producer of Need for Speed ProStreet Larry LaPierre:

“The Need for Speed franchise has always been on the cutting edge of car culture. Street racing is getting more organized and Need for Speed ProStreet is our interpretation of where we anticipate the culture to be in three to five years. We’re delivering on the ultimate proving ground, bringing you out of your neighbourhood back alleys and on to the world stage. This is a next-gen game, packed with the raw intensity and visceral aggression that defines street racing at the highest level.â€

…Pumping out serene classical compositions from the massive speakers in the boot, no doubt.

Need for Speed ProStreet is described as a “racing experience like no other” (they obviously haven’t battled it out against OAPs in shopmobility scooter races in Swansea city centre - intense), allowing players to design their motors from scratch before proving their worth at some of the world’s most iconic street racing locations. Four distinct racing styles are on offer - grip, drag, drift and a speed challenge.

Like Need for Speed efforts in recent years, we’re sure it’ll sell by the bucket load regardless of quality… but of course, we’re reserving judgement.

The Need for Speed series lost me with Need for Speed Most Wanted and Carbon. I do not know if I will return.

Most Wanted and Carbon were better than Underground 1 and 2 IMO… well Most wanted was.

i think most wanted was really good, i loved the storyline they probably even could have made a film out of it. i didnt like carbon i thought that was crap, racing in the canyon.

Did they not make a film?

Thought that’s what “The fast and the furious” was.

Oh well.

Are you kidding?!?! Better than Underground 2?!?! I’m sorry but EA your just fucking milking us for money Most Wanted SUCKED and Carbon was crap also with like 100,000 MS points worth of shit in the marketplace just to take our money!! not to mention it was just another version on Most Wanted without cops and prettier graphics…:| Now NFS Underground 2 was a TRUE game dispite the shit graphics. So heres your ONE chance to redeem yourselves EA this ProSTREET better be the best. I do like the idea of building your motor up from scratch.

Evo, me and you will always disagree but so far, my two top favorite NFS games are Underground 2 and Most Wanted (just because Most Wanted didn’t satiate your customization needs is not a good enough reason for me to dislike it too). Carbon felt too fake for me though, like the city scape, colors and everything.

Prostreet could potentially make it or break it for me either way as to whether I go for another NFS game.

And yes, EA is a money sucking leech, for all the reasons ^mentioned above^.

You can build your motor up from scratch? Wow! Me and my many roomates (6) end up with literally every game so its obvious that I will have this too. I can’t wait now!
