Did Dell design the Xbox 360?

Dell 360Brad Kellett blogged on his Pantsland site, great name by the way, about the striking similarities between the Xbox 360 design and the older Dell GX220.

Did Microsoft steal the design or was it just a coincidence? Especially the Ring of Light looks uninspiring when you see the Dell logo that possibly influenced it. And do you have any spoons, couches or trousers which bear more than a striking resemblance to a game console?

Feel free to let us know about anything you find!

thank god microsoft made it much better looking than that butt ugly dell pc :) It shows some similarities, but I’m glad I have the white one standing in my room, it’s beautiful!

“Especially the Ring of Light looks uninspiring when you see the Dell logo that possibly influenced it.”

Surely the “ring of light” idea was knicked of the SKY+ box?

That is real funny, must say it looks so much close to each other designs I would say it’s no coincidence, one way or the other: or they did steal the design and made it better actually, or Dell made the design which I think is the less logical option.

MS will not let other parties design it I bet, they will do it internally.
For sure the design got so much better at least, ofcourse it’s a subjective opinion always, but the 360 looks really good. As it also does compared to the PS3 design, which in my humble opinion looks like a bread toaster and it’s controller like a boomerang or some stupid spaceship. MS knows how to improve things also seen by there magnificent WiFi controller.

Even if they’re M$, I love wat they did with the 360 and all the hardware/software and Live!

After some more research I found the original designs of Nintendo’s Gamecube and the slimline PS2 btw. I think console builders are in for major legal troubles.

Curry: Hahahah.

The Nintendo 64 looks like a couch.

besides the shape, it has no similarities.

That looks nothing like it you can put alot of pictures that somewhat look like it but overall nothing looks like it figures people want to put things on the internet so someone can sue the other person I hate people posting something that looks very slightly like what MS made and say did they steal the idea get over it nothing like what MS made people love to sue just to make more money.

OMG look MS made it stand vertical they copied playstation 2 lets sue and they made there games backwards compatible I think Gamecube did that they should sue too people need to stop writing stupid things like this its retarded.

U Got Work3d; if you’re talking to Curry/us you obviously didn’t read the last line :D

I choose to ignore all sarcasm in the post, and say thank you for the complement. Anyway…

I wasn’t trying to say it was exactly alike, just that there are some simalarities. Microsoft didn’t even design the 360, a company called Astrostudios had that task.

Hey Brad, thanks for the comment. I noticed later that one could also misinterpret my post as taking a piss directly at you, and that wasn’t my intention, I just didn’t take the likeness too seriously ;)

Hey, I didn’t take it too seriously either, it was just a spur of the moment thing when I was setting up one of those GX220s for a friend - I just decided to snap a pic.

I actually thought it was a funny post on your site but rather far-fetched :)

The closest pc I ever saw that resembles the xbox360 was my old Patriot Book PC that was the same height, colour, size and could be stood up horizontally or vertically.
