Ninja Gaiden 360 exclusive

A timer ended early this morning on Xbox.com that promised to be “Brutally Fun”. The timer announced the launch of the Xbox.com page for Ninja Gaiden 2 and that the game would be exclusive to the 360.

1up.com has the further scoop on the game, and not only is it a 360 exclusive, Microsoft will be publishing the game. Tecmo’s Team Ninja is still developing what they’re calling the “true sequel”.

Not much has been announced yet, but 1up managed to get a few details about the upcoming title. As can be seen in the unintentionally released screenshots, Ryu now has claws to compliment his sword, and he also will have blades on his feet for even more carnage. Ninja Gaiden 2 also appears to be taking a page from Halo, as part of your life bar will recharge when you stop taking damage. The game will take players to New York, Tokyo, the Netherworld, and a place called Aqua Capital that’s reminiscent of Venice.

The Master Ninja Tournament will return, and players will be able to upload their Karma scores to leaderboards on Live. Ninja Gaiden 2 is currently releasing sometime next year. Look for more info on the game in its cover story in this December’s EGM.

~yawn~ It’s exclusive, until they change the name to Ninja Gaiden 2 Omega, for the PS3…then Ninja Gaiden 2.5 Purple, with even more blood and Uber to the Nth degree difficulty. Yadda yadda yadda.

This exclusive war is BS, as eventually anything that makes money from third party developers gets its fair shake with most of the high end gear. Bully, Grand Theft Auto, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Unreal Tourney, Oblivion, and so on…

It would be hilarious to see NG2 released for the PS3, with the opening movie being the Microsoft cinematic.

If Microsoft is publishing this one, it ain’t going to PS3. Simple as. And the last Ninja Gaiden was published by Tecmo.

Even if the PS3 does get this it wont be for 2 to 3 years. The first game was published by Microsoft so that can make a difference this time around.

Besides that I can’t wait to own this game. I still have my Ninja Gaiden Black from Xbox. This was one of my all time favorite games. I play the crap out of the sequel.

Where is the comments from Augustus and Coojo defending the PS3 how it had the Ninja Gaiden sequel that the 360 couldn’t run?

PSML Ram it right up you.

sometime over the past month i developed a harder work ethic.

but here ya go: 360 exclusive or no, it wont look as good as it could on the ps3.

Better hardware you say? Do you have any facts? Just curious as to why you say PS3 is the better hardware. Notice I am not screaming “OMG YOU SUCK CAUSE U DONTZ LIKE TEH 360,” I’m just asking for your opinion.

“Ninja Gaiden 2 also appears to be taking a page from Halo, as part of your life bar will recharge when you stop taking damage”

i highly doubt halo invented that.
halo sucks.

No, but that’s where the vast majority of people would identify it from.

are you gay, the last one was published not by microsoft, but by the third party publisher tecmo, plus it took 3 years to his the ps3 after being released on the xbox.

Comment by Scott on 2007-09-12 22:12:24 | Reply

no. it was DEVELOPED by tecmo and PUBLISHED by Microsoft

Tecmo only develop for Microsoft

No, it was developed by Team Ninja and published by Tecmo. The sequel, Ninja Gaiden 2, is being developed once again by Team Ninja but the publisher this time around is Microsoft.

I’m not positive, and am probably wrong, but wasn’t this game originally a PS3 exclusive, I remember seeing an artice in EGM months past that Ninja Gaiden 2 was only on the Sony platform.

…Oh well, not complaining, I’ll pick this game up.

Comment by Scott on 2007-09-12 23:36:46 | Reply

no. the only thing rumoured was it being multi format. which it isnt.

why would a company who has stated its love of the 360 architecture time and time again and has an exclusivity deal with microsoft develop for PS3?

media storage space.
superior hardware.

Smaller fanbase, more expensive to develop?

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-09-13 22:45:52 | Reply

it’s like a really hard video game.

it’s not for your average noob.

it’s for the hardcore. Soon, the hardcore developers will show us what it’s made of.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-09-15 02:37:45 | Reply

god you really need to shut the fuck up.

Cool. FINALLY a true sequel, and not Ninja Gaiden Black 2.0, Katana Edition, with 3 new sowrds and a new boss, but with the same levels, story, etc…

I can’t wait to se how this one turns out.

best game eva
