The Outfit demo available [Updated]

A little later than expected the 440MB big demo for THQ’s upcoming game The Outfit has hit the Marketplace. It’s a multiplayer demo, 8 players over Xbox Live and 2 players via offline splitscreen. Check out more demo details on Teamxbox. Let’s hope the GR:AW demo follows soon.

Some of the members of Xboxic experienced problems with the demo. The error message is about putting it to pal 60 instead of pal 50. If you get this message: try the following steps

1) Connect Xbox 360 with the original cable to a tv that supports PAL 60. (composite)
2) Put it on PAL-60
3) Turn off Xbox 360 and connect HDTV cable
4) Play!

Quality ,,thats good news,, downlaoding now :)

Yeah, I’ve got it, it rather suprisingly good. Destruction On Demand thing is a neat idea. Kudos to MS and THQ for a well made demo.

C’MON…HERE ART THOU?!

Not keen don’t like it for the reason it is very disrespectfull to WW2 conflict which is still in living memory for some.

Whoops!

C’MON GRAW…Where ART THOU?

Can we have no one having a go at me for wanting a demo, thanks :)

I see what you meen George, but it is only a game. If it was a simulation of the reall terror of war.would it sell?

(God, I’ve got a lot to say tonight, but waiting for dinner to be cooked, so all the best)

You said in your main article ‘a little later than expeced.’
He did say, it could be till Monday that we see it.

I know, I was reffering to our false and misleading title ;)

Anyone else played it yet? opinions? Wasn’t all that many people on it, so I came off, waiting till more people have it.
There wasn’t any adverts for it on MarketP. though, I think MS should inform us more, by a message? Or atleast in the news bit.

Guys, this Call of Duty 2 business is getting rediculous. Wasn’t it like over a week ago when they finally said “very soon” or something like that? Any news? At all?

Talkin about the patch of course.

Not working on my 360. keeps complaining about PAL50 but my box is connected to a sony bravia HDTV (so no PAL50/60 options).

Same as Cage NL

Another bugged demo? :( This’d better finish downloading before they pull it (and of course it’d better then work!)

Am I the only one that thinks we might have gotten DUPED!? At least that’s what it seems like so far, and I’m talking about Xbox 360 in general, not only this demo. The only excellent game out so far is Call of Duty 2 and honestly, would you be overly surprised if you played it on your regular Xbox? It looks better, but not ‘Next-Gen’ better, am I right? The leap between PS One and PS Two and Xbox was MUCH greater than Xbox to 360. All EA Sports games so far have been pathetic, Xbox versions are actually BETTER. And even with CoD 2 we have rediculous online problems that STILL haven’t been fixed. Specs and Techs aside, the games and gameplay so far have been a major dissapointment, and everything hardly seems Next-Generation. Maybe I’m just impatient, I know the launch games and first sets are never the best, but I was really expecting much better than this. Seems everyone spends way too much time Hyping and not enough time Developing — Or maybe it’s just me…

Well I was impressed with Fightnight round 3… that looks next gen to me.

Comment by BadMon on 2006-03-06 21:07:19 | Reply

Outfit is definately not next gen.

Comment by B4LDRICk on 2006-03-06 21:12:45 | Reply

To Guy……

So fightnight 3 is pathetic is it… your talking out of your ass…
What do you expect next gen games to be like? do you think they will look like films..?
Yes the jump from PS1 and PS2/xbox was great, but its not all about what you can see on the screen, is about fine tuning, this takes time. I too I’m p1ssed off that i can’t play an online game without lag, but please it’s only been out 4 months…… they will get it right soon.
Maybe for COD3

Comment by Lorne on 2006-03-06 21:21:35 | Reply

I played it for awhile with a VGA cable (1280×720) so that can’t be enough to cause the error. I’m in USA… maybe the demo is only showing the error for European 360s?

I’m in the Uk with a VGA cable and get that error. Not going to waste my time disconnecting and taking my 360 downstairs, so I deleted the demo. It’s pathetic that a console demo should be released in this form. So much for MS’s certification dept…

i mostly agree with guy but the there are exceptions (Condemned, Elder Scrolls, Fight Night) to the otherwise slightly disappointing lineup of games but i think a BIG part of this is because it is still early days.
compare Max Payne to Metal gear 3, it looks like it was made on a different console in comparison. just give it time, the games will start to roll in

the outfit - 97% complete
after reading this page I’m worried it’ll be rubbish

Josh ; we are having some fun atm playing online but I don’t think the game itself is that good. Not worth my money atleast.

My mate was downloading this, and he started at about 6:40pm, it’s now 9:07pm, and it’s only 80% done. What’s going on?

Comment by MartyMoose on 2006-03-06 22:10:38 | Reply

I’m at 54% after 2 hours good damn I want to play this or just anything for that matter. I hope this game is good after all of this.

Am I the only one here who thinks it’s good? Damn, I got a bad taste in games?

Comment by seth on 2006-03-06 22:21:56 | Reply

y’all,

i have only had about an hour hands on time with the demo, but it already seems to scream mediocrity. it is possible that i have not had time to absorb the subtler nuances, but all the data and numbers on the screen seem to take me out of the game, especially when there seems to be a little amount of explanation on them (again, i have not had time to fully explore). i am tiring of most of my online 360 FPS options though, so this will do nicely to fill the gap till the graw demo comes out, or cod 2 patch, or graw itself.
i also gotta say i feel the outfit demo has more to offer than i have gotten out of it so far, and everyone should give it a shot. and george, i respect your views, but i agree with trigger m4n, it is not a sim, it is not intended to be accurate or educational, and because it is such an intense and interesting subject matter, WWII material has been (in my opinion) presented surely more offensively than this, without protest. but, again, i respect your thoughts.

To the people complaining about download speeds: did you check your port forwardings?

Comment by Rossko UK on 2006-03-06 23:35:51 | Reply

How long would it take to download with a 512kbps speed?!

And is it going to be another game that only works in 6oHz mode? Because my (relatively new) TV for some reason doesn’t like it, yet it worked fine for the PS2. Stupid technology!

i love this game guys. true the graphics are average and so is the sound, but the gameplay is sweet. i just played a match where we had all buildings captured, well almost. then we got access to huge tanks and airstrikes. man, that was some wicked fun. u will hate if u are expecting a fast paced twitch shooter. if u like rts and give it a chance, damn fine game. 7 out of 10 for the demo, only bad part is lame vehicle control.

Comment by Chris on 2006-03-07 00:26:34 | Reply

I like the game. I think the controls of everything are a little wonky, but i think i’ll get used to it and it’ll feel more natural after some time.

8/10.

Most of the people I’ve played with have said they are enjoying it a lot. I am finding that the players who have only spent a couple matches online lack the playtime to make any kind of judgment call on the behalf of the game’s quality. I’d say I’ve played at least 30 matches and I am finding it very fulfilling. One of the most enjoyable demos I have ever played. With 6-8 player matches, the battlefield gets very chaotic, upwards of 80 characters on the map all at once. Turrets, tanks, soldiers, and jeeps litter the battlefield. This is easily one of the most unique experiences on XBOX to date.

Hurray for free multiplayer demo’s by the way, had much fun last night for free. I think the gameplay is too chaotic (but that get’s less after you get the hang of it) and the graphics are mediocre and blurry. MP was still fun too play and I’ll be up for some games tonight too.

Comment by Ralf on 2006-03-07 08:52:55 | Reply

When I first started to play the game my first thought was..how disappointing. But after a while, when you get into it, it’ so much fun…and coop with a friend is even better. Well, ok…graphics are just average, but why is everybody just judging on the graphics. The gameplay is so much fun and its a fresh idea…and by the way, don’t comment until you really tried it.
There are so many cool ideas in the game and its just fun to blast your enemy away with an airstrike or destruct everything with a big tank.

My problem with the graphics is that they’re too blurry. Perhaps it’s my TV/cables but it’s the blurriest game I’ve played on my 360 so far. I can’t wait to ride around in that thank with the huge rocketblaster on top tonight :)

I Played for a little while last night. I had a little fun. The single player might be better. instead of throwing you into a fight and nobody knows what to do.

Took the demo for a 2 hour spin last night. Overall I thought the game was OK. Not terrible, not great either. Reminded me of a Mercenaries / Battlefield blend.

Definately not worth a $60 purchase in my opinion. It’s one of those games I might pick up 6 months from now when I can get it used for $20. GRAW is where my money is heading tomorrow.

Well, I think we can all agree its better than that god awful Full Auto non-sence. That was L.A.M.E!!!

save yourself the disapointment and don’t down load this demo, it’s pretty poo.
