Factor 5 looking at classic Turrican for XBLA
The gaming gurus over at Gamasutra recently grabbed surprised Factor 5 boss Julian Eggebrecht at the Tokyo Game Show, man-handled him into a small dark room, strapped him into a stiff-backed chair, shone a dazzling light into his confused eyes and quizzed him forcibly concerning the development studio’s plans for life after Lair. Hit the jump to learn what he had to say – beyond pleading and begging.

While exclaiming his pleasure at the prospect of having DualShock rumble functionality back in the PlayStation 3 controller, and also that Factor 5 would certainly be interested in providing Lair players with a downloadable patch to bring force feedback to the experience, it’s Eggebrecht’s comments regarding Turrican that will likely prick the ears of Xbox 360 fans.
Specifically, when asked whether he’d be at all interested in bringing a new high-resolution version of Turrican through to download portals (namely Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network), the Factor 5 boss said that such a move would be “fantastic.”

Eggebrecht furthered that comment by outlining that any downloadable high-resolution iteration of the classic action game, which first appeared on the Commodore 64 in 1990, would likely revolve around the Amiga Turricans edition of the series. He also noted that the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console would be a good platform SEGA Genesis and Super Nintendo versions of the game too.
Sadly, Gamasutra’s mini-interview, burning bright lights and thumb screws failed to draw any concrete information from Eggebrecht on the rumblings surrounding a brand new concept for a modern Turrican.
Keep it with Xboxic for any further information regarding classic and future versions of Factor 5’s timeless title.

Factor 5 is looking for Xbox360 developing then? :)))
After Lair Fail
In actual fact, the Amiga version was released first, but the C64 version was programmed first and released after the Amiga version.
If I’m not mistaken, This was also a stand up arcade game. And really good one too. I may be thinking of another game (I’m old) but if I’m right, This would be a winner on xbla!
Wasn’t the (Amiga) game originally developed or marketed by Rainbow Arts?
I used to love Turrican - magic mix of combat and platforming along with that sweet pivoting weapon action.
While we’re on the subject of Amiga classics, perhaps some nice developer might consider bringing HD versions of Typhoon Thompson, Paradroid 1990 (or whatever the Amiga version was called) and X-Out / Z-Out.
