Microsoft replacing scratched Halo 3 Limited Edition discs
It hasn’t been long since the North American launch of Halo 3, and while the European launch still isn’t upon us as of yet, Microsoft has already come out and said that they realize there is a problem with Limited Edition of Halo 3 discs becoming loose and scratching. However, fear not Halo fans, for Microsoft is replacing the discs free of charge until the end of the year.
You might remember that back in April, Microsoft started to replace the discs of games that were published by themselves. However, you may also recall that this was at the price of £10, €15 or $20. Microsoft has obviously realized that seeing as how the Halo 3 Limited Edition discs are being scratched by the packing and not through any fault of the owner, they have decided to replace the discs free of charge until December 31, 2007.
If you are one of the unlucky people who did buy a Limited Edition of Halo 3 to find a scratched disc, you should download this form, print it out, fill it in, and mail it off to the appropriate address depending upon where you live. For more information on the replacement programme, check out Xbox.com. Also, remember that the replacement Halo 3 discs are free until the end of the year, hence you obviously don’t have to fill in payment details.

Really? I got my copy of Halo 3 today (which I add, is 100% complete ownage) and it was still in the holder, in perfect condition. Score to the 360 for the 2nd of 2 killer apps being so great! =D

Score another for ps3? They haven’t even had a shot on goal yet! 360 has been stone walling them since the get-go. My game disc was perfectly fine but not my bonus disc. I’m not to worried about it though.

i’ve tried warhawk last weekend on my friends ps3… it’s not all bad online is fun.. i would play it again.. but he traded his ps3 in today… that was my last friend that owned a ps3.. they’ve all gone 360… so sad

its the metal case, its not exactly a new thing, limited metal cases have the tendancy of having the discs pop loose in shipping i’ve had a few come taht way, normally they play fine because the metal doesnt scrape very deep so its just a surface scuff.
EIther way its good microsoft is taking care of the gamers and replacing the discs that it happened to
I’m in the UK and received my special edition today. The game disc was loose and scratched to hell. The bonus disc was flawless. I’ve already posted it back to gameplay and are getting a refund.

Maybe someday when sony pulls its head out of its ass, I’ll think about a ps3. But untill then, there isn’t anything better than xbox live. Like last night, I han a custom room ready for my friends as they were coming online with Halo 3. It was so cool to have everyone there to check out the maps together. We had a freak’n blast. Mines scratched, but not to the point of it being unplayable, but what does it matter, if it works, its fine by me, and their only minor scratches.

What are people’s thoughts of 4 player co op? Any slow down? Harder than single player? I can’t wait for friday to come, but tempted to drive home tonight to play it! Just gutted I have a physical assessment tomorrow.

Well I went through 3 of em before I got one that wasn’t scratched!!!
I got the limited edition and the disc had popped out. Fortunately no scratching (so far).
No one ever answered why the ps3 was better, i have both so this is non-bias, but im pretty pissed that my ps3 is lacking a scaling chip. this doesnt affect me, but affects many of my friends who have Mitsubishi tv’s that dont even carry the 720p format. all there high def media formatted in native 720p (like almost every ps3 game) gets downconverted back to 480p(standard def). this is very irritating trying to explain this to my friends as well as customers who return pissed beyond belief touting that the $600 machine is supposed to be the premium high def component. i then recommend they get the 360 so they can enjoy true high definition. funny thing is the people that have switched 100% satisfied!

xbox360 over did it this time really. i mean i got my limited edition one and trust me it wasn’t the best seen. i was like “wtf? i bought this?”… had to argue with the stupid manager or store to get another copy. how lame was that? had to argue? shows how dedicated microsoft is. when i look at xbox360, it looks like a freakin computer that after 2 years its going to go out. sighs. never had problem with ps3 but i still like both systems. never had a problem with ps3 yet though and hope not to. halo is alright im starting to have server issues with the update too cause it shuts down my xbox360. weird but true…..
