Test Drive being re-released for Christmas

Just in case any of you missed Test Drive Unlimited first time around, it has today been announced that the game will be re-released by Atari, probably as an attempt to soak up a little extra revenue off the back of the Christmas roller coaster.

The re-release will be under the ‘Atari Classics’ heading, and will be released on the 1st November (in the US presumably). This will come shortly after another Xbox Live Marketplace release hits, in the form of Test Drive Collection Volume 6, another downloadable car pack. Anyone still playing the game is certainly in luck.

No pricing details have emerged just yet, but given that Test Drive was already cheaper than average, this is bound to be even more of a bargain. Anyone going to pick this up that didn’t originally?

i forgot to ask, is there any extras in this one like all previous content included?

Will for sure if it’s rereleased on budget :)

Does this game have police chases like Need For Speed? If so, are they any good?

Yes, and when you start building up the wanted level you will find yourself in deep shit.

Well it’s still worth the $39.99 they charged originally. Yeah the cops will chase you, do road blocks, etc and take your hard earned money.

Atari has filed for bankruptcy, they promised monthly car packs (they’ve released 5 in the last 13 months), they never make announcements when a pack will be ready you’ll just wonder for 3 months with no word on the official boards and then it will show up. Atari really has irritated me with how they supported TDU but it’s still a good game and worth the money.

Where else can you free roam in Oahu, Hawaii in a ton of exotic cars as well as everyday cars?

If the rerelease contains all the DLC it certainly is worth a thought. TDU has been my favorite for a long time, still pop it in a lot to just drive around and listen to some music.

This could have been a really superb game if they just allowed users to find each other on the map.

Sadly the way they’ve designed the game on the networking side means that you and a friend can be in the same spot, but never see each other. This alone meant that many friends couldn’t never meet up to race together and the games popularity crashed just a month after it arrived.

It’s an amazing driving game though, and I play every now and again to just go for a lovely cruise around the whole island. The cars sound and handle superbly, shame there’s no damage though.

If you invite your friends into the game you will see them for sure.

This is still my favorite driving game, even more than PGR and Forza!

This game is great. The police chases are great, and cruising around with friends is insanely fun.

However, as has been pointed out, it really needs a working party system. Not being able to find your friends makes people stop playing this title pretty fast.

This game was one of the main reasons I bought my 360. I was rather dissapointed, as the car physics are truely pathetic.

I hardly ever race anymore, I just hop on and cruise around the island… and for some reason I keep buying the DLC lol.

May be worth a pick up, but Im busy playing PGR4….

Atari Classics? I thought age-old games like Missile Command got that name.
