The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

Sierra unveils Winter XBLA line-up

In addition to the already known hack and slash Arkadian Warriors, videogame adaptation of Battlestar Galactica, and puzzler Switchball, Sierra Games has announced three new Xbox Live Arcade games to grace the download service this Winter: Boogie Bunnies, Aces of the Galaxy, and Commanders: Attack of the Genos. Hit the jump for all the juicy details.

Boogie Bunnies

Boogie Bunnies is exactly what you think it is – a game about dancing, carrot-loving critters. Well, we don’t really know if they’re crazy about carrots but what we certainly do know is that they’re a bunch of hardcore dancers. Not wanting to let the talent go to waste, the little bunnies decide to become famous by performing in a variety of locales across the world.

The goal of this Bust-A-Move-esque puzzle game is to clear the board of differently colored bunnies before they make it to the bottom of the screen and meet their fluffy maker. To do so, players have to match three or more bunnies of the same color which in turn compresses the board. Of all the colors the bunnies come in, red, purple, and teal are the most rewarding. If you group together red bunnies, they will explode and take out some of the surrounding friends. A cluster of purple bunnies clears out a full row, while a clump of teal ones results in special dance move, where the whole lot starts dancing, garnering you double points.

Boogie Bunnies is set for release in the first quarter of 2008 for the Xbox Live Arcade and PC, with the former also featuring two-player offline and online co-operative play.

Aces of the Galaxy

Being a 3D rail shooter, Aces of the Galaxy seems perfectly suited for the Arcade download service. Pitted against hordes of trigger-happy enemies, players will take control of a speedy spaceship, armored with slick fire projectiles and deadly homing torpedoes. A bullet-time feature named “hypertime”, which slows down enemies, and a unique scanner that helps you find concealed items and enemies will also be on hand. Unsurprisingly, a number of different power-ups will be scattered throughout each level, giving the player a health boost or supping up the weapons.

The space shooter will include a branching mission-based campaign, where, after completing a level, the player will get to pick from two or more different levels. This branching setup will provide good enough reason to play through the game multiple times. Another feature that will also add to the replay value is the game’s two-player local and online co-op support.

Aces of the Galaxy is scheduled to release this Winter on the Xbox Live Arcade and PC.

Commanders: Attack of the Genos

The last but not least title from Sierra’s list of Winter XBLA games is Commanders: Attack of the Genos, a grid/turn-based strategy. With an army of up to 16 different military units, players will wage wars against the opposing forces in a selection of varied environments. The gameplay revolves around a depletable bar which dictates how many action points or moves a player has left before the other player takes over. The amount of available action points per turn decreases when an attack is performed, a unit is moved, and so on. Augmenting the strategy aspect is the terrain, since it will play a key role as to how an assault is planned out; for example, trees can be used for cover, and roads make the units move faster but more vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Adding a little twist to how the game is played, the maps will be populated with a set number of bonus tokens which can either net you some money to buy upgrades for your units, or damage the unit that picks one up. Despite the turn-based nature of the game, the developer thought better of how the attacks will play out. Consequently, whenever you damage an enemy unit, it will strike back. Thus, it’ll be crucial to plan your moves beforehand and not just run around the battlefield hoping against hope.

Like the other two titles, Commanders: Attack of the Genos is on track to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade and PC sometime between December 2007 and February 2008.

Commanders sounds like Advance Wars, but worse.

agreed. Commanders looks kinda boring, but on the better side of things Aces looks pretty good for an XBLA game. With Call of Duty 4 coming out XBLA games are going to be thrown to the side for alot of players. But we’ll have to see eh?

I sierra would only bring us the old Quests like Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest… I just can’t bear to play anything on a PC anymore… must have it on my 360 :)
