First ever shots of SSFIIHDR
From now on, it seems Super Street Fighter II Turbo High Definition Remix will now be known simply as Street Fighter HD, just to keep everything simple, and we for one are delighted about this. Anyway, the first ever shots of the game have been released and boy, do they look impressive.
There’s also some commentary from one of the game’s developers that is probably worth a read as well. The screenshots are all work in progress, and Capcom definitely want you to know that, so keep it in mind.
Although the scaling of some of the background elements isn’t final, you’ll also see that it’s better than it is in the first shot. Also, some of the sprites still need another pass on implementation to clean up the edges and the line weight.
Below is just another screenshot for you guys to check out. Again, I want to stress that the HUD is only a first pass. We still need to add a lot of flair to it. The sprites need another pass, but it still looks pretty awesome in motion. There’s something funny going on in the edges of the ground layer, but that too will be fixed.
For a final screen, here’s a better look at the character select screen that you might’ve seen in some of the media so far. This is from the demo build, so only Ryu and Ken are selectable, but you can see some of the portrait art for the other characters in it. BTW, the spaces next to Ryu and Guile are the random character select options, and yes, the dots on the map are not positioned correctly.
The shots look great, although Ryu and Ken’s fists look almost as big as their head. However since these are indeed work in progress shots, such complaints are likely to be ironed out in due course.
The game is expected to hit on the Xbox Live Arcade sometime next year.

Next year eh …. I still need a good arcade stick for my 360.
hope its not hard like the last one as that was silly
great, this looks sweet…. BUT…. MK3 was useless and so hard to actually play the game with the xbox 360 dodgey D-pad
that’s what the D stands for:
Dodgy-Pad
wow as much as i liked street fighter when i was , what like in maybe 5th or 6th grade?… it looks like they aren’t thinking OUT OF THE BOX.. game looks cartnooish w/ same cheesy sound, and everything i mean its about to be 2008, we have power, use the technology do something truely awesome and unqiue w/ the game. rehash
I think this falls into the if “if it ain’t broke…” category. Personally this is exactly what I want from this game. A HD rendition of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo with the artwork redrawn by the guys behind the manga.
For the “thinking out of the box” (man I hate that saying) version, I’d leave that to Streetfighter 4, which if the teaser is anything to go by, has a radically different art style, and hopefully bring something new to the genre that the series defined.
Why should they try to do something totally out of the box for the game, its basically an overhauled re-release of a classic arcade game from years ago, so they dont want to tamper with it, just get the visuals upto spec…they shouldn’t dabble with a classic in my opinion especially as its just for XBLA!!!
Plus you forget the matter of a new Streetfighter title that is coming, thats where we’ll hopfully see some serious innovations!!!
i like it. and will likely buy it.
YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH! THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!!!! I will definitely by this one and if is going to look better…. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEN INCREDIBLE! Am a BIG fan of this Street Fighter so if they make a remix of the songs then PERFECT but I don’t mind if the sound stay the same cause the OLD HADOKEN VOICE it IS going to bring LOTS of GREAT memories at the arcades back then!! and all the songs too like Chun Li’s stage just to name one! LOL GREAT WORK CAPCOM WAY TO GOOO!!!!
TAKE OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF CAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSSS lock
YOU FUUUUUUUKIN NOOOOOOOOOOOB!!!!
