Team Fortress 2 fully patched

After we heard it was coming, the patch has finally hit Xbox Live servers and will fix the lag issues that plagued Team Fortress 2. The patch has also done just a little bit more.

Here’s what’s changed:

  • Reduced network bandwidth usage in multiplayer
  • Improved overall game performance
  • Arranged search results to favor preferred host conditions
  • Improved searching for ranked games
  • Addressed a possible false report of too little storage space on larger hard drives.

Early reports confirm that the patch has indeed fixed a lot of the complaints people had, with things seemingly running a lot more smoothly. Good on Valve for sorting this out so promptly.

Great stuff.

The game still has massive lag for me when in games with over 12 people. I’ll join any number of games, and they all have the problem. It may be a problem with the host, but it is a common problem for me.

Awesome, love this game, makes the orange box even more work it. Think this fixed the ‘freeze on menu’ problem too it seems. No more crashing for me :D

Beats halo 3 ;)

Wow, so why is it that Valve is so quick to release a patch for this game, but yet it took Infinity Ward over 6 months to release a patch for COD 2? I just hope there is not an issue with COD4 online.

If you had played CoD4, you’d know there isn’t.

CoD4 beta*

I’ve played the BETA, but not the final release. All I am saying is that Valve really released the patch fast in comparison to other developers.

The game is crap anyway so who cares?
One for the folk who like running around like headless chickens scoring cheap kills. One for the kiddies IMO. And it looks shit. Valve should have put some time into Episode 3 rather than working on Live’s worst ever online game.

Lol, someone loves the Halo. Fag.

I don’t “love the halo” at all. Which is why it isn’t on my gamercard.
The Orange Box is well worth a buy if you’re new to Half Life 2 and possibly worth a buy if you haven’t played the Episodes. The inclusion of Portal increases that value.
But buying this game for the online will result in diappointment for many. The multi is pisspoor in every way. The online game itself is fit only for unskilled noobs. The fact that it’s also hugely broken in the lag and matchmaking department are just the poo flavoured frosting on a very large poo cake.

I agree, Karma. I have not bought this game for the simple fact that I already have Half Life 2 and episode 1, and have for years now. I’m not really into gun fighting with cartoon characters. Probably the reason I got bored with Halo 3 so fast.

Actually the visual style of this game is spot on if you play it. It has a really cool feel that you don’t get with other FPS. The lack of matchmaking killed it though. It’s a real clusterfuck trying to play a decent game without the other team having host advantage and a whole squad of friends. Still a great game if you have enough friends to have system link matches.

I enjoy this game alone, and with friends, only have ever had one laggy match (Amercan to UK host), so i simply quit instantly finding a new one. Its a great game, and the main reason i bought the orange box, strangely enough.

I’m glad they’ve patched the game already because the lag was unbearable…I’ve yet to try it out but I trust that valve know how to sort out problems

still lags like a bitch me to

Comment by joejohnson on 2007-10-29 01:03:39 | Reply

Yes, let’s make all FPS games look exactly the same. Why would we want variety? I’d much rather buy the exact same game over and over again.

i might buy GTA4 over and over again. i might buy it like i buy milk. FPSs do often look the same but its not always bad. i really like these graphics on tf2 but im not buying it, not yet at least. but if it was a photorealistic, slightly slower paced shooter id be all over it like sores on a leper. if this gets a new episode and/or maps through dlc ill get it.

3 words:

Great Friggen Game.

Comment by kidkit on 2007-10-29 17:35:52 | Reply

still better on pc ;)

Great, with less bandwidth usage we should experience less lagging players on the TF 2 servers.

Definitely good news. I was holding off on the TF2 part of Orange Box a bit, but no more!
