Microsoft wielding the banhammer again
It seems Microsoft are on the rampage once more, as Xbox-Scene is reporting that people across their forums and in their IRC channel are now unable to hook up to Xbox Live. Do you have a modded console? You’re about to get what you deserve.
From an update at Xbox-Scene:
It appears that modified firmware is NOT being detected, and is instead once again due to ‘bad’ discs. Keep in mind that the only full proof way to make a 1:1 backup is to do it yourself. iXtreme is as fullproof as it can be, in that it validates everything it possibly can from a firmware point of view, but a game can have slight data change somewhere, most commonly in DMI. Or it can be due to early copies being watermarked so to speak.
Microsoft do not ban your Gamertag, only the console via the serial number. Therefore it is possible to play online again with all your details still in tact, it just means you have to fork out extra money for the privilege. Is it worth running the risk just so you can copy a few discs? We’ll let you decide. Just remember that if you see ‘Z Code’ 8015-190D, the console has been banned. Good.

Hmmmm 10 copies saves about 600,- euro. A new 360 costs about 350,- euro. I would say that that it could be worth it.
But hey, making copies sux. Just buy the games if you can buy them, other wise don’t buy them :p.
People who create and sell pirate copies of games or mod peoples consoles deserve to be fined or given a prison sentence in my opinion. You do for copying DVD’s.

As a person with great aspirations to one day create a game, I strongly support banning users who “steal” games.
its not gunna stop them from stealing, just from getting on live
double post: that is how it has worked in the past as well…original xbox whom everyone and thier mom modded, was unable to get on live without chance of banning, thats why crappy free online services like xlink had so many userrs online a couple years ago. same thing with modded ps2s i think you couldent get on psn with a chip on…every modern console except nintendo-s *shrugs*
i have three modded original xboxes on live. two of them with 300 plus gig hard drives in there. still not banned. i use them mostly for media, not games (XBMC was sent from god), but regardless, it is VERY easy to not get banned with them. i haven’t modded my 360, because you still cannot run unsigned code, but once that homebrew starts flowing, you can bet your little pansy ass it will be worth it to “get what i deserve.” which is a really self righteous thing to say by the way, ross.
and rockaholic, it was a very easy patch to get online with the ps2. and if you didn’t, you NEVER EVER got banned. way to spread third hand misinformation though.
they deserve every bit of banning they should go to jail i think shit is pirating games.

I had just about every ps2 game burnt running online without a chip thank you very much. I had 5 modded ps2’s that all worked online.
I love when people come here to say how terrible and evil modding consoles is…yet they don’t know a thing about it.
And yes if we did not mod consoles then there would be no EVOX or XBMC.

Yea its called Swap Magic lol. As far as playing games online, there were plenty of sites that gaves u the DNS code for the games and you just had to make up the other 3 part combos yourself. I do admit that I used to play PS2 copies ALL the time, but When I got my 360 I put that all behind me and grew up. I’m not saying that moders needs to go to jail, but they should acknoledge the fact that games are not made for free, so some respect should be shown by purchasing the game.
Money isn’t a problem for me.
I have a magic Box that gives me money. Her name is Kristy, and her Dad’s a shareholder of Casino Windsor. Sure, every once in a while I have to clean the box with my tongue… but it’s a small price to pay.

Would you do a game like gears of war or halo 3 or mass effect that took so much work and years to make? or even a xbox live arcade game just for free so everybody could play and enjoy them self? If your stealing games, you are stealing them. That is basically wrong no matter how righteous anybody pretends it is. If you steal you cannot complain when you get caught. If you can’t do the time…
