Halo 3 track to appear on GH III

Just in case people were getting too involved with Rock Band after its release Stateside this week, Activision together with Bungie and Microsoft have teamed up and will be presenting a very nice gift come Thursday. The Halo 3 theme tune will be rockable come Thanksgiving.

The Halo theme was written, composed, and performed by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori; and the MJOLNIR Mix features guitars performed by the Grammy Award winning guitar hero, Steve Vai. The track will be made available on the Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow, however the press release isn’t clear as to whether it will remain there afterwards or not.

Said Marty O’Donnell, Composer and Audio Director for Bungie Studios:

“It’s a real pleasure to hear one of the best loved and most iconic themes from Bungie’s Halo Universe in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. As longtime fans of the Guitar Hero franchise, it was great to collaborate with Neversoft and Activision/RedOctane to offer this exciting free download to our fans.”

Wait, what?

Some may be surprised by this move giving Activision’s want to continually charge rather high prices for downloadable content. However the decision to release the track free will be a popular one, and certainly one that will be much appreciated in the Guitar Hero camp.

OK, now you can go back to the drums guys, it hits tomorrow.

As long as I can still take MS Contin while I play, I don’t give a rat’s ass about monks.

But get this, my doppelgänger told me if you perfect the Halo song on Expert, Master Chief comes to your house and jams with you. He even brings a new track with him…. his favorite song ever… Uncle Albert. (which is kinda strange, not to much guitar in that song, but he’s the Chief… so what you gonna do)

If the butter doesn’t melt, put it in the pie.
