CES: X360 sales on track, Xbox Live is success
IGN went through both Bill Gates’ and Peter Moore’s keynote speeches and extracted the most interesting tidbits of information.
Moore released some quite positive sales figures on Xbox 360. He stated Microsoft is on track to sell between 4.5 and 5.5 million units by the end of June, and has sold an average of four games and three accessories per console so far. Despite the shortages which went unmentioned, Moore claims the Xbox 360 is the fastest selling console ever.
Microsoft also states that the target rate of 50% of the new consoles being connected to Xbox Live is being achieved. On the original Xbox only 10% ever sported an internet connection to Microsoft’s online service. The release of the Mission Impossible 3 trailer on Live is exemplary for the industry’s dedication to this channel into the modern household.
On the Xbox Live Arcade subject Moore promises they will have 20 games available by the end of the first quarter, including Capcom’s Super Nintendo classic Street Fighter 2.
