When there’s a blockbuster superhero movie in the making, it’s a common trend now that a movie tie-in videogame is being worked on as well. Whereas the movie has a hefty budget to fall back on, the videogame version is more often than not left out in the cold. One of the latest movie tie-ins currently underway is Sega’s Iron Man. Intent on breaking the mold, the company has recently released a new trailer to give us a little taste of what to expect from the game. We’ve got to admit, it sure looks promising.

Taking on the role of Tony Stark, players will be able put on several variants of high-tech armour and give the opposing forces hell. Whether it’s an on-foot soldier or a military fighter plane, you’ll have the means to teach them a much needed lesson. Here’s hoping that the development team has got what it takes to make the transition between ground and air combat a smooth one and pays close enough attention to the gameplay and not just the presentation.

Iron Man is set for release in May 2008 alongside its silver screen brother.
