Halo 3 most played in 2007 on XBL
Major Nelson has released an intriguing list of the most played titles for the Xbox 360 and original Xbox, and a most purchased titles list for the Xbox Live Arcade. Unsurprisingly, despite only being released in September, Halo 3 beat all other games to the top spot.

Still going strong
Gears of War managed to fend off Call of Duty 4 for second place, presumably because it was only released in November of last year, giving it just two months to match the epicness that was Gears. Worms came a good second in the Arcade list, however it was edged out by the classic that is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Unsurprisingly, Halo 2 ranks number one on the old Xbox.
Some may be surprised at the omission of Rock Band and Guitar Hero III, although these were both released in November also. The Orange Box, released in October, also doesn’t feature; next year perhaps? What’s missing that you believe should be way up there with the best?
Before anyone starts… CoD4 was released November and then most purchased December !!

COD4 will probably never pass Halo 3. COD 4 has way less sales. Halo 3 being aroung 8 million and COD 4 being around 2 million which is a really big gap.
ya but its 2 million people that continue playing, unlike halo where tons of people bought it beat the campaign and left it to rot (AKA me)

Well, my friends list stop playing Halo 3 to play COD4, but now they are all coming back to Halo 3. Halo 3 will stay at the top for the the entire xbox 360 lifespan just as Halo 2. No doubt about it.

This list doesen’t surprise me, COD4 was more of a brief fad that gets old after a month or so, all the predictions were right. Halo 3 is probably going to stay number one for the rest of the 360’s lifespan.
I like how when Halo 3 launched, people were trying to knock it off its pedestal by listing all the problems it had, and were saying how COD4 was going to beat it.
Yeah, same thing happaned for Gears of War, that was the Halo Killer wasn’t it? I’ll bet it still didn’t beat Halo 2, or at least ties it marginally.

Halo 2 overall is still the most played game on xbox live, there has been close to a billion hours played or something like that. The only game that will top that will be halo 3. COD4, Halo 3, Gears there all good games period, end of story….move on.
PEOPLE GET REAL! CoD 4 will NEVER beat Halo 3 alright. Halo is a MUCH better franchise and not to mention a VERY popular series!
O, it’s more popular, that pretty much makes it better…definitely. Just like Hannah Montana is more popular than pretty much any other music out there, I guess she’s “better” too.
I’m not saying I don’t like Halo, but don’t judge a game based on how many fucking people play it, it makes no difference. Halo most likely will have the most people playing it, but jesus, don’t let that make up your mind as to which game is the most fun.

Halo 3 was fun… for about a month. I was a HUGE Halo 2 player, 43, legit. Halo 3 was coming out and I was stoked! It was finally out and I played it for about a month and I haven’t played it since. CoD4’s multiplayer is far better, more in depth and balanced. Not to mention CoD looks and plays better then Halo overall. I don’t hate Halo, but when a game comes out and beats Halo’s multiplayer outta the water well that takes a lot and they accomplished that for CoD

on saturday morning i bought halo3 special edition for £25, by sunday morning i was walking back to the shop asking if they could take it back. majorly dissapointed, not a patch of COD4 which ive been hooked on since its release.
first off, pizzle, you were not a 43 legit son. you had to cheat some way some how to get that high due to all the cheating. you cant really compare games like halo and COD. they are totally different and some people just prefer a more realistic game like COD and some people like blasting a bunch of aliens. i have played COD and halo 3 and theyre both very fun games and both multiplayers are great. halo 3 may be more popular but that doesnt necessarily mean its “better”. i prefer halo 3 but im not saying its better than COD4.
