The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

Bully coming in March with extras

There was always going to be a reason the original Bully didn’t come to the Xbox world, sticking to the PS2 as an exclusive. Clearly, Rockstar had a broader view and knew they could earn even more money by waiting a while and then re-developing it on the 360 with a few extras thrown in. At last, Microsoft-console owning gamers will be able to check out Bully: Scholarship Edition in March, with a plethora of extras to make up for the wait.

For those not familiar with the game, you play Jimmy Hopkins. Set in the New England area of the United States, Jimmy finds himself at Bullworth Academy with players having free reign to run around wherever they like, deciding whether to go to classes or not, do the main missions, or do some of the mini-games. Lessons themselves are mini-games which will improve Mr. Hopkin’s abilities, so it’s sometimes more sensible to attend, especially if you hope to progress in the game. Weapons of course feature within school (it is Rockstar after all), however there won’t be a conveniently placed Uzi lying around. Instead slingshots, marbles, stink bombs and many other typical school weapons will be around for players to utilise. You also get to kiss girls, what more could you want?

You’re not actually a bully, believe it or not

The original game was split into six chapters. Added to these are eight new missions and four new school classes (biology, music, maths and geography) especially for the 360 version. Not only that, but there’s a new two-player offline mode, allowing you to play mini-games against one another, as well as new unlockable items and clothing, new awards and the compulsory Achievements.

All of this for $49.99 makes it something to consider when the game hits store shelves on the 4th March for the US and the 7th March for Europe. Hopefully the European price will be less than the average retail price too. Europeans will also need to keep an eye out for the name change, as for whatever reason it wasn’t called Bully over here, but Canis Canim Edit, so be on the look out for the Scholarship Edition of that.

Do you get knives? my school had alot of knives- i want to rekindle my youth. This game was made for the console that was inferior to the predessesor of the console we all own now, its also coming out a month before GTAIV, anyone else think it was probably best left as a PS2 exclusive?

Nope no knives, I remember there being baseball bats though. A home-made bottle rocket launcher also features, which is nice.

And I’ve had this game pre-odered since the end of last year, it was a great game on ps2 and will be even greater in HD which extra content.

So it’s a 360 game with achievements 10 dollars off the regular re-released price? Hmm, not bad.

But I don’t know, the only hype Bully got was that it was made by Rockstar and schools abhored for it’s name and publishing company, but upon release… eh nothing.

im sure when i played it wasnt even called bully, it was canis canem sumtin- the original name not being allowed by dailymail twats, so it’ll finally get called Bully in uk. which is quite nice. fuck you dailymail.

Ay, that’s right, the name got changed for Europe. I’ve added that to the post, cheers.

its funny, once the game becomes old and the ‘controversy’ goes down theres nothing to write about for these hacks, its not fashionably demoral anymore so it wont go in the dailymail or any other thickopaper to get spun into a hypocritical tyrade by some wannabe politician. maybe they should do this with all games.

“Canis Canim Edit.”
sorry for my idiocy, but what the hell does that mean?

I remember all the UK papers trying to connect Manhunt to a murder by saying the killer had played it obsessively. Funny that when it turned out the victim owned the game and not the killer this was barely mentioned.

Anyway back to Bully, missed it on PS2 so will probably pick this up.

I thought it was more amusing that Dixons, Pc World, Currys etc. took Manhunt off their shelves after the outcry due to the violence included in the game but were happy to stock San Andreas a few weeks later………..

True. I think here in the UK it was more a case of the government funding an anti-bullying in schools campaign, and of course, none of the suits had played it but they were all saying “releasing a videogame about bullying isn’t very nice”. Even though you don’t actually play a bully in the game. But there you go.

Comment by FoolInjection on 2008-01-07 22:20:04 | Reply

Yeah that’s exactly what it was… it was to defer attention from itself because when it was announced as Bully… it drew a lot of political attention in the UK over anti-bullying…

Same thing will probably happen when the 360 version comes out…

Hell there was a thing on the TV tonight on the BBC… “your children are only one click away from extreme danger from paedophiles while on there PC’s”… basicly more government scaremongering and nannyism.

Canis Canem Edit was a great game. GTA with slingshots, wedgies and bunking off school instead of RPG’s and sniper rifles. Superb! Can’t wait til this one comes out. Give me something to do before the main event in April. And if you don’t know what that is, then you shouldn’t be here!
