New Soul Calibur IV screenshots

Last month when Namco Bandai surprised everyone by announcing that Star Wars’ Yoda would be featuring in the up-and-coming Soul Calibur IV, you would’ve been hard-pressed not to bat an eyelid. To your pleasure or disappointment, today’s batch of new screenshots doesn’t reveal any new outlandish characters, but rather three returning fighters from the previous iterations in the franchise. Check them out after the jump.

The three fighters making a comeback for the fourth installment are Maxi, the nunchaku-wielding Japanese, Seong Mi-na, a Korean fighter sporting a Zanbatou, and lastly Hong Yun-seong who’s renowned for his brilliant swordsmanship. Also unveiled in the screenshots are two new environments, Maxi’s pirate ship and an icy, blue-lit cave.

Soul Calibur IV is set to arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this Summer.

looks to be shaping up as a next gen title, unlike so many other games that have come out.

Who still buys these retro fighting titles? Come on, they’ve barely moved on since Tekken 1 on the PS1. It’s Tekken with Hi Def graphics. Ka-ching! No Sale!
