MS to bring GDC home; Too Human confirmed playable
Microsoft has announced that, starting February 20, Xbox Live members (yes, Silver as well) will be treated to a bevy of downloadable goodies straight from the show floor of this year’s Game Developers Conference, which kicks off on February 18th and runs through the 22nd.
As was the case with the “Bringing it Home” for Comic-Con 2007, Microsoft makes a lot of promises for the upcoming GDC coverage set to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace next week. According to the press release, in addition to highlights from Schappert’s keynote address, “A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Community,” expect to see “footage” that will include “never-before-seen gameplay, demos, screenshots, game trailers and interviews from the GDC show floor.” Make of that what you will.
While on the subject of GDC 08, you might be also interested in knowing that Too Human will be playable for the first time since its lacklustre showing at E3 2006. Also, rumor has it that promised Too Human demo will finally see the light of day on the Marketplace next week.
Thanks to Talon for submitting the Too Human piece of info.

How come there are never any reviews on here anymore?
good question, i was wondering the same thing
i love microsoft around GDC and E3 Time
i wonder though… “Unleashing the Creative Community” sounds oddly like that “youtube for games with the xdk” that they were talking about throughout 2007
“xdk”? isn’t that the xbox development kit? do you mean xna? how are people using the xdk to make games for the public? gotta link?
He’s talking about flash like games on xbox. A service like youtube where consumers can post harmless games. These games would be free and they would make a profit from advertising.
thanks. i am pretty sure the announcement has something to do with xna. i imagine they are going to allow users to create content without having to pay the 100 bucks a year. also, i imagine that there may even be some real live user content available for everyone to see and play soon. it seems to me, after 2 years of touting the merits of xna, it must be time for it to actually be of some use to the masses.
Aegis Wing was developed on XNA, wasn’t it?
RE: NOT paying the $100? yeah….not too likely I’d imagine. If anything, we might finally get to see/play some of the user created content. But that fee is a licensing fee as I understood it. You can’t use it without ownnig a license blah blah blah….kind of the same idea as using official players/jerseys in a certain football game.
i think aegis wing was the game pumped out by those m$ interns that everyone thought was so revolutionary. i personally didn’t think it was all that, but i really like the idea of seeing user created content from some of the freaks out there.
it seems like it may be possible to have some sort of licensing without a fee. i think we would see a HUGE increase in interest in xna if they weren’t charging for it. not that i have any particularly compelling ideas myself, but i bet there are tons of fools out there with good ideas if they had the tools.
but yes, aegis was made on xna, it just wasn’t “user-created”. as in, i think it was made by m$ interns.
I hope the Too Human does show up. This is one of the games I really want to play.
Oops forgot demo
yeah, me too.
I’ve been waiting for this since I first heard about it back in 2005. The one (and ONLY) bit of footage I’ve seen wasn’t anything too crazy/spectacular, so I hope there’s more for us to see…..and maybe, just maybe, to play.

d’oh….double post!
Yeah can’t wait to play this game!
Finally, Too Human. I can’t wait to be kicking ass in sweet armor with vicious weapons.
I’m looking for Too Human to be the best game I’ve ever played, a title that currently belongs to Mass Effect. If only the story is spectacular, tht will make everything else great.
“its the most wonderful time of the year..”
ok…. wheres the demos???
we have been boned.
