N+ confirmed for this week

At long last, the game a lot of people have been waiting for has been confirmed to be coming on the 20th February, that’s this Wednesday everyone! At a price of 800 MS Points, we’re sure that a lot of you will lap up N+ very quickly.

Boasting 450 levels for the Xbox Live Arcade, it’s a game that doesn’t try to impress visually, but with absorbing gameplay that will keep you and your Ninja fighting through each and every level.

There’s also promise of some Gamerpics and Themes too:

There are also a couple sets of really cool gamerpics and themes in the LIVE Marketplace — we would have liked to put them up for free, but this is apparently against policy. It *is* a bit frustrating: it seems silly to us that gamers have to pay for something entirely superficial and not even part of the game!

It’s disappointing that Microsoft enforce a charge, but at least there will be some previews so you can try before you buy. There’s also promise of additional level packs coming in the future, but for the time being, those 450 levels should keep you very occupied.

Let us know if you’ll be splashing the Points this Wednesday.

Thanks to Jamzy No 2 for submitting.

They should have incorporated the gamer pics and themes into the game too, so that they would unlock when you did something (like cloning clyde did with the chicken clyde gamerpic)

the game is free on the internet why should i pay 800 for it, 400 would’ve been more reasonable

800 does seem a little steep. I know it’s a good game…. I’ve played it. (4 free) It would be nice to play it on a TV with custom soundtracks…. but why not break the trend and offer a game at 600pts…. or 500, 640 or 420 (pass that shit 2 me). I guess I’ll wait… to see how well it translates to the big (little) screen. (controls an all)
I’m glad to see more “original” games on marketplace thou…. even if it’s sloppy seconds from flash.

It’s about bringing their work to a wider audience. The developers could have just left N on the PC in its Flash state, to pass away into obscurity.

Besides, if you don’t want to spend the $10 then don’t, as with any game at that price. N being free isn’t much of an excuse at all. I’m buying this game not only for 450+ levels of ninja goodness, but also to support the developers for bringing one of my favourite games to the 360.

I’m with HylianHitman on this one. He speaks my thoughts exactly.

I second what Echzeit seconded. I’d like to add if you’d rather pay $60 for Halo than $10 for this can’t be friends anymore.

It’s fun and I can play it right now for free on my laptop. I don’t think I’ll be getting it for the 360 if the demo grabs me then I’ll probably buy it.

The reason games like this are free on the internet but cost on the 360 is because they don’t have a good system to integrate advertising into the game. On the interwebz, ads generate the revenue that goes to the devs.

It would be nice to see great arcade style games like this supported by in game advertisements, free to the consumer.

*sigh*

someday …

Are you sure that’s what you want to see? Will it work for everything? I can see that working for games like SWOS, but not here. Would you like to be rewarded on completion of a level, with a 20-second ad? You might end up complaining about that instead. I know I would.

By the way, N the Flash game is completely ad-free.

Careful what you wish for - subtle advertising is not a bad thing - but do you really want to be watching commercials between levels?

Advertising belongs in the fringes and margins of our entertainment time - not slap bang in the middle of it.

For me - I’d rather pay a couple of quid and be free of the advertising guff.

What kind of company calls their product “Bang Cillit” after all?

Actually, you can experience now. Far Cry was released with in-game advertisements from McDonald’s just a little while ago, and it really was basically watching commercials between levels and during saved game loads. It got annoying really fast, considering how easy it is to die in the game.

In game advertising is pretty diabolical when you consider how much you pay for them. The biggest offender (EA)has in game advertsing in pretty much all of their games, do they charge less? No, they generally charge around £5 more for their yearly shite so what exactly does advertising subsidise except greedy board members pay outs?
