Microsoft flat out denies 100Gb HD for 360
Following the rumor we posted about yesterday on the Xbox.com forum posting that Best Buy would be shipping 360’s with 100Gb hard disks soon, Microsoft bloggers Gamerscore flat out denied it. Cesar Menendez gives us the official statement:
We haven’t announced any additional hard drives for the Xbox 360 beyond the 20GB version available today.
It already ranked a bit too high up on my bullshit-o-meter, as I wrote yesterday:
Only thing the rumor has speaking for it is that the guy posting it seems plausible enough. It’s no new account, it’s an active gold account, it’s someone who made enough posts to get rank 2 on Xbox.com forums. My bet? Someone at work perhaps played a prank on him and he’s gullible enough to sincerely believe it.
Xbox 360 Fanboy adds another few tidbits of info from another Best Buy employee:
Incorrect. Best Buy is holding back its 360 units because it is having a giant April gaming promotion, featuring online contests, tons of 360s on a daily basis (or something like that), and a contest for its employees and Media Supervisors.
This was revealed to the supervisors on Saturday, after a previous e-mail noted that we should not expect our regular 360 shipments for a bit.
Rumors are persistent that 40Gb and 80Gb drives will be introduced later this year for those people anxious to get more storage on their 360.

ofcourse
More storage space would be nice, if there’s some reason to actually have it. The only reason to have it that I would motivate me to buy a larger drive would be if they start making larger games available via XBox Live Arcade, otherwise… nah.
it would me nice to have a 80GB or 100GB hardrive for one reason. If people who would love to play MMORPG (like FFXI) or just plain RPG’s (like KOTOR aka star wars) they would have enough space to add more things to the hardrive.
