Remember Nathaniel? The guy whose console was wiped clean of special memories in the form of signatures and some fancy looking artwork? Well, the lucky bastard screwed gamer has now received the extra special compensation Bungie promised him earlier in the week. Check it out after the jump. Hiding in the huge package sent by the Bungie folk was the following Halo swag:

We know what some of you may be thinking: what if I made up a bogus story for the sole purpose of getting some cool swag too? Whether that’s crossed your mind or not, you should know that it’s not something we’d recommend:
If you are thinking about making up a fake story in an attempt to score some free swag, don’t do it. Nathaniel had numerous people to back up his story, from personal mutual friends to people who actually signed his box to Xbox MVPs he knows in real life. He also saved all of his correspondence with Microsoft and reference numbers from the phone calls. His story could be verified. If you make one up, yours cannot and you will not get away with it. So don’t try.

The guys at bungie are so dedicated to their fans, I, to be honest, expected a little more.
Yeah, he got a bunch of cool swag, but I was hoping maybe they would spend some time personalizing another xbox. They basically just went into a closet, and filled up a box with halo3 gear. Cool for him, but it doesn’t equal the xbox.
I want a Halo3 hackey-sack.
More? They basicly gave him their warehouse…
they gave him everything they have, they signed and personalized a bunch of hit… all that for 1 friggin xbox that had a bit of personalization and sigs… the helmet signed wouldhave been enough they went over and beyond what anyone expected…. any more and they might have mise as well hired him to the staff lol
They signed one thing … and that’s all I mean when I say more. The could have had an intern cart the shit around the office one day and get more than one signature … I mean … that’s really what he lost.
The dude is more than compensated for his loss, and I suppose even if they had autographed EVERYTHING, what he lost is the memory of getting those autographs, and he could never recapture that.

iactually agree with this guy, sure its great that they gave him a heap of free stuff but most of the things are just useless. i was expecting a new halo 3 console thrown into the bundle because they have newer and better parts inside mean a good chance he would never have to send a console off to M$ crappy service centre again.

Why personalize another Xbox 360 when we know the liklihood of it failing again? The only part of a 360 that should receive any signatures or custom art is the facplate. When the box fails, you remove the faceplate and slap it on a working box. Bungie made good on their word and then some.
Again i owned launch 360.. no issue. What is up with ppl… here’s an idea.. take care of your 360!
Im sure the kids happy, and im happy for him. But this doesnt change the fact that the Halo series in general is overrated as fuck.
But with all my Halo disdain aside, Bungie 1 Microsoft 0.
He should have at least got a limited Halo edition Xbox 360. All the free stuff is cool, but it still doesn’t make up for what some retard from MS did to his 360. With Bungie stepping up, I wouldn’t be surprised if MS gave him a brand new 360.
I’m glad he got some compensation. But I feel he’s partially to blame. If the signed xbox ment that much to him, why risk sending it in. Just bite the bullet like I did and buy another box. Havening said that, now that my newer xbox has died (5 months old) I will be sending both of them back…just to receive someone else’s crappy box.
M$ has admitted to what ?? a 30% failure rate? There’s no way. More like 70%. Every single person I know except one, has had there box die. Most are on multiple send backs… as I’m soon to be. I love my 360, I have over 40 games, 80 arcade games and streaming movies from my PC saves me time and disks…. but they need to hire some decent hardware designers pronto.
99.99% of Xbox 360’s fail. Look, I can make up statistics with no factual backing also!
All stupidity aside though, if you have read any of the articles, you would have seen that he’s a registered nurse, and doesn’t have the luxury of paying for another Xbox 360 AND bills
Mine has broken for a second time now, well, the refurb this time anyways. Not happy about it tbh. I’m even starting to think the PS3 might be a better a choice, but then I think, “well, xbox live is soooo good, I can’t leave that alone” so I just hang on. I can’t afford the £65 ($130) repair bill atm either. Guess I’ll have to try and get them to fix it for nothing, but I don’t see how I can negotiate that. Perhaps mentioning that if I was to sell all 27 of my games off, the joypads the HDD and my Gamertag stating that they would be losing out on the profits they would have made from sales made otherwise they may listen.

It’s interesting how despite what a great compensation package this kid got, some of you are still not satisfied. Sure it’s not the same as the special 360, the sentimental value is lost, etc, but hey, that’s some fancy swag to make any real halo fanatic raging with envy.
Personally I give kudos to Bungie for going out of their way to do this for the guy, and in such a timely fashion as well. If I were the kid, that would make my month.
Well with the exception of the Bungie Jacket and watch, I do have all the other listed Halo swag, - any signatures. I also have the other 4 Halo novels, Halo pins, numerous T-Shirts, the Halo 3 Military Edition Zune.
I am not jealous whatsoever…now what about the console artwork. Did they recreate it?

most of you people who rag on the game haven’t even played the first 2, so of course it’s not gonna make any sense to you. You have to know the story before you can play the third game.

All I am saying is that it was Microsoft’s fault not Bungie. Bungie did not have to do a single thing about it, and yet they chose to give the guy all of this stuff. This is by far completely going out of their way. For anyone saying this isn’t enough, have you considered, the fact that in reality, if Bungie would not have done anything at all, since it wasn’t their fault or problem, it would have been acceptable?
If Bungie wanted to do something good, they could have donated that stuff to a kid’s home.

So what..he got some Halo garbage….eww if i was ever refunded anything it sure wouldn’t be Halo..and if it was…I can say Ebay would be its new home..-_- I got a Gold Dragunov in CoD4 and wasnt planning on going prestige but I sign on next day and there it is im prestige by a glitch of course and my accuracy and stats are lowered significantly…did I cry like a bitch to Microsoft? I didnt ask for anything out of the ordinary when my console died and then got another back and that one died too….what a crying little bitch..
