Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack priced and dated
Halo fans have been patiently waiting for some concrete information on the upcoming Legendary Map Pack and, consequently, Bungie has today proved that patience is indeed a virtue by unveiling the release date and pricing. Also, the second map that will be included in the pack has come to light.
Bungie has announced that the second map pack for Halo 3 will be made available on April 15th for a steep price of 800 Microsoft Points. Before you start dissing Bungie, the team wants you to know that they just make the maps and don’t have the final say on the price. Those unwilling to shell out that much for the Legendary Map Pack should know that the maps from the Heroic Map Pack will become available for free on the same day.
Alongside the announcement, Bungie finally took the wraps off the second map that will be featured in the next batch of DLC. Previously known as “Cotton Ball,” “Avalanche” is a “lovingly crafted” reimagining of Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer map “Sidewinder.” Here’s how Bungie describes it:
Avalanche is a tribute to Sidewinder, a “Halo: Combat Evolved” fan-favorite. This massive, vehicle-oriented objective map adds a twist to its classic predecessor with all new interiors, dramatically reshaped exteriors and brand new vehicle variants. Take a ride and admire the visual variety from the cockpit of the retuned Hornet.
The third and final map is yet to be revealed, however, Microsoft did offer a little nugget of information for you all to chew on:
The third map to be included in the Legendary Pack has yet to be announced, but stay tuned to Bungie.net for full details on another returning classic… fans of smaller Slayer maps, it’s time to get excited.

Yeah, I’ve honestly gotten used to seeing pretty much anything halfway interesting on the marketplace=800MS points. I just shrug my shoulders and bust out the old credit card.

I learned my lesson, why buy these maps if I won’t be able to play them rank right from the get get go? Where’s the exclusivity feeling I wanted aside from playing social? Let alone, DLC social?
I mean I could be perfectly content with ranked (in numbers) DLC but it’s not even that. If I pay for something, I want to be able to utilize it as to the fullest extent.
Truth be told, I brought the Heroic Map Pack and I barely played it because I focus more on Rank than anything else. So it kind of pissed me off that I paid 800 points for nothing.
If anything, I think Bungie screwed me over because they never mentioned at first (or at least explicitly) that those that buy the map pack would play it strictly on social instead of ranked right from the beginning.
So Fuck you Microsoft (yes Bungie mentions Microsoft in this), I wanted rank and instead I’ll wait when they become free.
I don’t know what your talking about….. I play team objetive ranked all the time and we have played on Standoff. If everyone in the room has the new maps there is a chance of playing it. But not all the people have it. So if just one doesnt your S.O.L. Plus playing Social matches helps you rank up with EXP.
I do think the DLC maps we have now will be seen a lot more on ranked after they are free.

Yes, after they are free, but what if I paid for them? What happaned to the promise that those who downloaded the maps will play with others who downloaded the map and be able to play the maps more frequently? In truth, I’ve only played the new maps 3 or 5 times on ranked; Forge 2 to 4 times, and Standoff once.
EXP? I know that, but I don’t want fucking EXP, I wanted Rank? I think I mentioned that very clearly.

That said, the maps do look pretty good. Hopefully the 3rd map will be blood gulch or the long narrow map from halo 1.

Avalanche looks pretty cool. Sidewinder was a really fun map…. and after Gulch, was probably my favorite Halo CE map.
