CoD 4 Variety Map Pack coming April 3

Following the recent unveilings of the four maps to be featured in the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack, as well as the Game of the Year Edition, a page on Xbox.com has appeared out of the blue to announce that the first map pack for the Xbox Live King will be available April 3 for 800 Microsoft Points.

Players who also happen to take interest in Halo 3 will notice that the upcoming map packs for the two best first-person shooters on the Xbox 360 have been priced the same. There’s one difference though and that is the fact that the Variety Map Pack will sport four new multiplayer maps, as opposed to the Legendary Map Pack’s three new additions, which makes the former offering an easier pill to swallow.

What’s your opinion on the price?

I have a quick question. With the original maps, only eight are playable offline with the split screen opinion…leaving the others to be only used in Online Play or System Link. Now…these new maps…are they available for offline split screen play, or just Online/System Link play?

Comment by RaGe on 2008-03-20 05:56:50 | Reply

They’re available for offline play.

Thanks!

And I meant “option,” not “opinion.” Heh!

4 New Maps… just what the medic ordered!

When a game has kept me entertained this long - 800 points is a fair price for more content to extend the life and fun further still.

Well done - Infinity Ward - lets see another pack before the summer slow down.

Btw: this is 800 points well spend

Comment by N0 N33D on 2008-03-20 12:08:18 | Reply

my opinion is 800 points is a rip-off for 4 maps, it should be 400 points. i’ve seen the maps and they’re alright but my point is, you don’t even get to choose the maps, they’re random!!! so we might get to play 1 every 4 hours at best. very cheeky price, but they know people will pay it. i’m dubious, not made my mind up yet.

Comment by FF on 2008-03-20 22:24:09 | Reply

I almost agree. 200 points per map seems a bit much to me. I do enjoy playing, but the extra content won’t do much to change my interest. I’d be excited about it for 2 or 3 days until I get the maps figured out and then it’s back to the “been there, done that” feeling I have now.

I know the difference seems trivial to most, but I would have likely spent 600 on the maps. 400 for sure. The problem is, I have to draw the line somewhere, and I have never purchased a small map pack (yes, I think 4 is small).

As for the map selection, you can’t choose the individual maps, but I think I read somewhere that they are adding an option to only join games on the new maps…so you should be able to play only on the new maps for a while, if you want.

I will be getting the maps for both Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.

“here’s one difference though and that is the fact that the Variety Map Pack will sport four new multiplayer maps, as opposed to the Legendary Map Pack’s three new additions, which makes the former offering an easier pill to swallow.”

$ 3.33 per Halo 3 map
&
$2.50 per COD4 map

WOW $0.80 more for the Halo 3 maps what a ripoff…….LMAO. You know that people are saying it…… LOSERS

If you can’t spend $10 on one or both, Go to your video game store in the morning and take back your Xbox 360. You don’t need it.

wow dstrike, you’re a moron. these map packs have been in talks for a long time. and sorry, but cod4 will not be beaten by rainbox six vegas 2 hahahaha. and who cares if they’re equally priced but one pack has one more map — are you all that cheap? you’re going to buy both anyway.

Comment by dstrike on 2008-03-20 18:46:25 | Reply

yeah im a moron cause im sick of playing the same maps over and over again in COD4 and 4 maps are really gonna make a huge difference.

Comment by Symbiot on 2008-03-20 15:21:15 | Reply

Why is everyone talking about R6V:1.5? Same game, different maps.

Comment by Daze Of War on 2008-03-20 15:28:38 | Reply

I’ll be buying both map packs most likely. The Halo one is kinda up in the air still but the COD4 is a definite. I probably won’t play them for awhile though cause I’m loaning the game to my buddy since I’ll be playing Rainbow for sometime.

Comment by j on 2008-03-20 20:00:11 | Reply

Hey Dstrike - I can smell your inane banter a mile a way… pretending to be ‘j on’ is about as grown up as we can expect you to be I guess.

Stick to Viva Pinata - you can pretend to be a pink donkey or something equally ‘fun’.

Comment by dstrike on 2008-03-22 19:56:07 | Reply

yeah cause im really going to pretend to be j on to respond to my own post.
Wow your dumb, if j wants to respond he will

Comment by Manjuice on 2008-03-20 22:15:10 | Reply

The price is ok, i would have payed 800 for the chinatown map alone

Whats making me laugh is that people are sitting here saying too late and Vegas 2 has taken over, i just wonder how long it is until people start saying, oooh when are they bringing out new maps for Vegas BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
