Final Halo 3 Legendary map revealed
We already know about the first two maps that will be included in the map pack set for release on April 15th, as well as the price Halo 3 fans will need to pay for the soon-to-be-released downloadable goodies. Just as latecomers get their hands on the Heroic Map Pack for free today, Bungie lifts the curtain on the last map that is to feature in the Legendary Map Pack.
Bungie already revealed that the third map was going to be another returning classic at the unveiling of “Avalanche” last week, but which of the two past iterations it would be from has been kept secret until today. Well, not to keep you waiting for too long, the third and final map, now called “Blackout,” will be a faithful remake of the Halo 2 classic “Lockout.” Every single ramp and ledge has been carefully recreated, except for the setting, which is now a UNSC Antarctic weather station, and the fact that the remake is set during the night.

This isn’t really that great value for money really is it? This map should really be free, if it is just an exact remake (apart from setting). If we are spending 800 pts, we should be getting new content. We are only getting one new map really and 2 remakes.
The best map from Halo 2 in a new engine and a new game? That’s quite a bit of work, and fair compensation to Bungie.
There should be a map pack featuring all-new maps for 800 points, and remakes for at most 400 points.
Well if no one wants to buy them, just wait for them to be free anyway… if everyone did that it would actually prove a point with MS
I hear that. Unfortunately there will be a lot of Halo 2 players clamoring for this pack, Lockout was one of the bigger H2 maps back in the day.
Lockout was the absolute best map on Halo 2. Me and my friends played 80% of our games there. The current maplist felt empty without it. I will gladly pay $10; which is less than 2 hours pay for something I’m going to play for as long as I play Halo, which is going to be a very, very long time. Thanks Bungie, long live lockout!

Agreed. This map is far and away the fan favorite map of Halo2. I myself wasn’t buying this map pack until now. Now I’ll be buying it on day one.
Well, day two. Bungie has NEVER launched a downloadable content item on time. Not the Beta, Not Heroic DLC IPO, nor the Heroic maps for free today. Today there was a seven hour delay from when they were supposed to be free and when it actually happened. I know there are a million reasons that this might happen, but it’s become a trend and that is mildly disturbing.
This guarantees a must buy for me.

Oh, sweet memories. It looks ten times better now.
Don’t like the design of the map, however the legendary map pack actually looks worth the money. Ghost Town looks very interesting and Avalanche should be the answer to the current lack of BTB maps, although it doesn’t solve the problem completely.
I waited for the heroic pack to be free and i’m glad i did. They are actually pretty good with the exception of foundry which really sucks on its default setting but overall wasn’t anything that exciting.
These maps will most likely be free during the fall, so if you don’t consider it worth the money, hold off. None forces you to buy it.
default Foundry layout is quite weak, but play around with it yourself.
Between myself and two roommates, we’ve made about 4 different, completed ‘maps’ in Foundry and a handful of crap that never finished.
