MS show parents that 360 is “hip”

In a bid to push more Xbox 360’s through the doors of potential gamers, Microsoft have kick-started a new campaign so that parents can better understand the potential of a 360 in the home. That’s the idea anyway. In reality you should find that it makes grown men laugh with its ridiculousness.

The above videos supposedly will bring parents down to our level as gamers. The new initiative, Parental Street Cred, apparently makes it easier to understand that kids need a 360 in their lives, and that they are totally safe.

Whatever Microsoft, just tell us who the blond chick in the red dress is.

I imagine the scripts for these were written by the same guys that do those comics in newspapers that don’t make any sense.

And also, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say “street cred” apart from journalists and geography teachers.

Hahahahahah… Gasp.

Awesome, as in ridiculously funny at the stupidity of it all.

Though I’m somewhat embarassed as a white guy that the guy went all ghetto talk in the 5th video.

“a new campaign so that parents can better understand the potential of a 360 in the home”

I’m confused. I didn’t see the RROD or any DRM issues mentioned. If you own a 360, those two problems are, without question, a part of the 360’s potential.

And what’s up with the “approved this message” crap at the end? Do they really think it’s a good idea to tie video game consoles with political campaign ads?

Why? Because people love those campaign ads so much? Maybe it’s a new tactic…making sure every ad reminds people of something they hate. :)

Is this an April fools joke? If not, it should be.

33%? I cant honestly say I’ve got at least 40 friends with xbox 360s and every single one of them has had RROD at least once.
I have 3 times so far, and looks like number 4 is going to be any day now.

I guess you and your “40″ friends were the ones to benefit from the 33%. I myself hadn’t had any problems and I had a premium which I traded in for an elite. The premium that I traded in still works actually.

“The premium that I traded in still works actually.”

eb games has a new policy to keep you up to date on the status of your old systems. i have heard of this… you are supposed to receive birthday cards and christmas cards from your previous unit, and your old 360 is supposed to build you a bird house when it turns 5. fuck you.

Not through EB games, I guess I should’ve elaborated but here it goes…

Before the Elite launched, my brother’s friend wanted to buy a 360 premium that I had which I included with a battery charger and an extra remote for $350. Not bad considering I brought the 360 at $300 when the $100 rebate came in.

*Microcenter had a sale for the 360 at the time I brought it*

That’s how I know my original 360 still works. Don’t hate.

Oh dear. This is even worse then the 360 advert they did in India.

Something lighthearted like this would have been reasonable in the days of the Genesis/MegaDrive and SNES. Can’t believe the Xbox division thought spending marketing dollars on this was a wise move. But then again…they haven’t shown a great deal of wisdom at any other time…

I guess you need to be a parent. I have a 8 year old and I am 26, I found this to hilarious. Trust me guys; if you get a kid, no matter how young you are you will always be as old as a senior citizen to you kid. That is the joke of these commercials.

Comment by mu on 2008-03-31 15:47:23 | Reply

wow, i think you are giving them a lot more credit than they deserve.

Most of those were very funny. Apparently they’re a little too ironic for some people to understand, though. Oh well, it is America.

P.S. Ghetto talk guy was straight up gangsta.

“Ghetto talk guy was straight up gangsta.”

That’s exactly what is not funny about them, that “fake gangsta” shit is overplayed and was never funny to begin with. Apparently some people with no sense of humor still find it funny. Oh well, the world will always have retards.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-04-04 17:37:43 | Reply

It’s not funny when white guys dress like that and do it on purpose.

When a guy in a white lab coat is talking to a hottie like that, it is quite funny.

Sorry you feel the need to call me a retard just because you disagree with me, though. Guess you really do have insecurity issues.
