Earthworm Jim wriggles onto next-generation consoles
Following news earlier on this week that star of screen and videogames, Earthworm Jim, is soon to be wriggling onto the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console service, Interplay has confirmed that it is hooking up with the franchise creator Doug TenNapel to bring the character out from his soil-trodden home to create a new film, cartoon, and - you guessed it - videogame.
Currently known as Earthworm Jim 4, Interplay wasn’t keen to give anything away about its development (including which platform/s it would be released on either), but did, reports Gamasutra, state that TenNapel would be working as a creative consultant for the game.
Earthworm Jim shot to fame during the 1990s in his own animated television series and videogames - the latter of which included Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 3D. He also made a cameo in the Nintendo 64’s awful beat-em-up, Clayfighter 63 1/3. The soft-bodies invertebrate’s “Ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit” has helped him travel through space and defeat many a villain, including the evil Psy-Crow.
We’ll bring you more information as Earthworm Jim’s next-generation exploits as we get it.
