Activision snatches up exclusive rights to Aerosmith
Not too surprisingly, Activision has today announced that they have secured an exclusive deal with the famed rock band Aerosmith, meaning that if you fancy strumming along Steve Tyler’s wailing and are a dedicated Rock Band groupie, you’ll have no choice but to shell out for a Guitar Hero game (assuming you don’t already own it, of course).
Both Aerosmith publicist Marcee Rondon and Activision’s VP of music affairs Tim Reily confirmed the good news for those in favour of the Guitar Hero franchise, with the latter commenting:
“I can say that we do have the band exclusively, and their catalogue should be exclusive to us beyond the one or two tracks they had licensed out to Rock Band before we made our deal.”
Any Rock Band player is likely to know that there’s only one Aerosmith track in the game and that is “Train Kept A Rollin’.” Want more Aero sweetness? Time to consider picking up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith when it releases this June.

Why, oh why, couldn’t they have made this GH exclusivity deal BEFORE putting Train Kept A Rollin’ in Rock Band?
What an awful song! Especially when considering that we could have had Sweet Emotion or Dream On instead.
agreed that song is aweful.
I think its a great song.
It’s an awesome song.
So rock band doesn’t get any more lollersmith songs…oh noooo. The one in there already is enough. Not to mention the nearly infinite possibilities of RB DLC.
I’ll pick it up when the price comes down to 20-25€, I already own GH2 and 3 and 2 guitars so I don’t want to pay 65€ for some extra songs…
Aerosmith are a terrible cheesy rock band. As are Def Leppard. Get some credible artists in there and make this worth buying please.
Oh no?
Took the words out of my mouth… “OH NO!!!”.
