New Burnout Paradise location exposed
Men of their words that they are, the Criterion guys have released a smattering of new screenshots, unveiling the new Burnout Paradise location that is to be released as part of the up-and-coming software update codenamed Davis.
Expected for launch sometime in August, the Davis update won’t only add a brand-new island location, but will also introduce motorbikes for the first time ever, along with night-time and a host of bike-specific game modes, challenges, and even new locations.
The Burnout team promises that more news and gameplay footage will follow in the near future. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any future updates on the official website and bring it to you as soon as possible.
Let us know what you think of the new features in the comments below.

It looks nice, I wanna play it !!
ok y’all, this is ripped right from the original dlc announcement.
“We see DLC as significant additional content which expands the game experience. We see it as continuing to develop the game which we worked on. Taking it further almost to the point of making a new game.”
they are making a new game that is not going to be available to everyone who paid for it. they are planning to put less and less on the disk, and supplement with additional content later. this is a bad trend for gamers. whether the content is free or not, when a significant portion of the game is made unavailable to a huge percentage of paid customers, it seems like there is a problem.
looks like bullshit, and smells like bullshit. mass9, why don’t you taste it?
they’re just going to slip bikes in with dlc. this game was so unfinished when they released it, and they are doling it out over the course of a fucking year. at least it is free. fucking august (with a cesspool of media to drown in in the meanwhile). this is a good game, but, if you don’t have it, buy it used and fuck em. i personally do not believe this is how dlc should be done.
what about the people without broadband, they don’t get bikes? or islands? fuck off criterion, you suck. everything about this was done poorly. FINISH your game, THEN release your game. talk about fucking your fanbase. this is just wrong. i bet they start selling a gold version with everything included, for extra $. charge for the beta, charge for the game. ea is so smart.
Calm down man.
The game was complete when it came out.
This is DLC and it’s free.
It adds more to the game, and it is a whole new game changing experience. How can you complain about that?
I think this is a grat way to do DLC.
Unfortunalty yes there will be a number of people without access to it but that isn’t the point. This is new content. The game is still a complete experience without it. This is just extra.
I agree. Be thankful it’s free, cause this is one of the first free dlc that ea has given us.
of course i got broadband shit for fuck. i am just saying that there will be people that get boned on this. you don’t care, and that’s fine. i’m just saying.
and if they are “adding” “motorbikes” eight months after the games release, come on, the game wasn’t fucking done. again, in my opinion, this dlc was handled atrociously, and there will be people who end up getting screwed. i won’t be one of them, but still, the situation is fucked up, and it is just an endless p.r. gysmnasium. lucky for you, you guys are all gysmnasts together.
“Unfortunalty yes there will be a number of people without access to it but that isn’t the point. ”
jesus christ! that is exactly my fucking point! jesus fucking christ!!! what’d you read the first word of my post? c’mon.
The game was finished, stop whining! so people get screwed, do you realy whine about every game that has dlc. good luck with that!
@ Steady Autum
yes, yes he does.
Do you not have Broadband??? LOL….you fail
yeah, you can see above there mr. lution.
I’m not sure I see the point here. In what way was the game unfinished. It’s a superb, complete polished bit of work and immensely fun to play, which has already been patched for some minor online glitches. And here we have some free DLC. What the hell is there to complain about? Except for the fact that it’s not GTA IV, of course, which is currently ruling the roost in just about every household that contains XBox circuitry. And rightly so.
they are adding huge pieces of real estate, and a whole GENRE of new vehicles. i think i would have to be an idiot to believe they never intended to include that shit when the game went gold. no offense. do you really think all this content was originally planned as dlc? and if they removed it to add later, do you not see how everyone not “connected” will get fucked? i am not complaining because i will be affected. i am not complaining because i was unsatisfied with the game. i am complaining because this process leaves a lot of people behind. you should not need to pay for a high speed internet connection and live just to get a complete game on the 360. of course, as we all know, if you are not on live, your games will barely play without the updates, but hey, that’s is a whole nuther argument. or fucking is it? c’mon you all, are you really locked up in the toolbox that tight? get your lips off the ass of the world, and call it like it is.
“The game was finished, stop whining! so people get screwed, do you really whine about every game that has dlc.”
i complain when people get screwed. you complain when you don’t get screwed. think about it whiner, cause only dogs can here you now.
i agree with mu.
whether or not it was planned or not isn’t really the point though. Devolpers need a way of distrubiting free contet to people who are not hooked up. I think that if we could download content from shops by bringing in our HDDs or Memory sticks would be good (EG. burnout revenge).
to be fair though this isn’t the only game with people getting screwed and its not going to change anytime soon.
Sorry guys, but it’s time you entered the 21st century… sooner or later, everyone is going to be online, the revolution starts here. Microsoft is absolutely spot on to be distributing via network. It’s simply the only way forward.
What’s the point of having a 360 and not being connected to the internet? You can’t access the MarketPlace, you can’t get updates, you can’t chat/msg friends, you can’t play online, etc, etc. XBox 360 is a network enabled machine. It can be used without it, but it’s very limited in use in that case. It’s designed to be an internet connected machine.
Eventually everyone will have media devices in their homes connected to a network to access the media they want to access. Be it TV, movies, games, whatever. Terrestrial TV will eventually die out. Trust me. It’s on it’s way. I work in the industry and that is definitely the way things are going.
If I didn’t have an internet connection, I wouldn’t have bought a 360. It’s like buying a car without fuel in the tank. Sure, it looks great in your driveway, but what the Hell are you going to do with it? Get an internet connection, or buy a portable console and stop whining. Burnout Paradise was complete. It’s an enormous game with loads to do in it. Now they’re going to add a HEAP of DLC which is free. How can anyone in their right minds complain about this? If you’re not online, then you’ve still got a complete game which is enormous and will still give you a shit load of enjoyment.
By all means, moan at EA for being a shit publisher, moan at EA over their pricing of DLC, moan at M$ for their DRM policies (which are abysmal and prevent legitimate users accessing content, particular SEGA games for some reason), but I can’t see how you can moan about this. There’s nothing to gripe about.
“they are adding huge pieces of real estate”
so what, like, 3-4 maps doesn’t count as virtual real estate? Since when? News to me….
“i think i would have to be an idiot”
Finally!!! We can agree on something. Nice. oh wait, there’s more…
“…. to believe they never intended to include that shit when the game went gold.”
I’m sure they had planned to release this content, but how can you sit there and insist they were schduled to do so AT RELEASE? You can’t, you’re just a blowhard. Planned release as DLC is still a planned release. It just doesn’t fit your timetable, and that’s the problem here, isn’t it?
Take the free DLC and shut up. gawd……
hashed and rehashed by an asshat. thanks mass, but it is clear everything you stated has already been said by some one just as ignorant. we know you can’t get out of the toolbox, you were born and raised in there. it is pretty clear i have a valid point here, too bad y’all simply don’t want to hear it.
quote it out of context, prop your stock and suck it like a bitch. looks like you did everything you always do mass9.
if you can’t see how this is not right, then just keep thinking y’all. keep thinking y’all. keep thinking y’all. i can smell the smoke already.
“What’s the point of having a 360 and not being connected to the internet? You can’t access the MarketPlace, you can’t get updates, you can’t chat/msg friends, you can’t play online, etc, etc. XBox 360 is a network enabled machine.”
c’mon mano, you know not everyone even has broadband AVAILABLE to them. i have friends in fucking right across the golden gate bridge that do not have broadband available. you are saying SHOULDN’T get this content because they CAN’T get broadband. that seems elitist and rather stupid. have you seen the size of these islands? everyone should have gotten them. and motorcycles? everyone should get them, whether they are going to charge for them or not. skim of the top, and then charge for the slop, typical ea. don’t support these bad dlc policies that leave so many gamers behind. when legislation has been passed guaranteeing everyone broadband, you will have a better argument, but until then, maybe try thinking about what other people might have to deal with for a change.
If I absolutely HAD to have an XBox when my area doesn’t have broadband, I certainly wouldn’t moan about not being able to get access to content distributed via the appropriate channel.
Is it EA’s fault that someone doesn’t have broadband? Is it M$ fault that someone doesn’t have broadband? No. People seem to believe that they’ve got a God given right to these things. You don’t. Read the small print and close your ass before everyone’s ears pile up with the BS you’re spewing forth. Take responsibility for your own life rather than blaming everyone else for everything. If you don’t have broadband in your area, move if you need it that much, but don’t expect any sympathy from Microsoft because you don’t have it.
I’m not saying they SHOULDN’T get the DLC. The fact of the matter is they CAN’T. Accept it and quit moaning for NO GOOD REASON.
Start a petition or something… “We, the underprivileged… blah, blah, blah…”. How’s that for elitist? Or is it simply the vital thing you are lacking here, common sense.
wow, destra, you are quite an ignorant pus fart after all. well, at least you’re happy that way. i guess that is all that matters to you. and for the fucking record, i get 30 fucking megabits down. this situation has NOTHING to do with me. i am simply trying to bring up the point that a significant portion of our community will get shafted. god i wish it was you, but since it is not, you can cunt inue to pretend everything is just right. asshole.
“I’m not saying they SHOULDN’T get the DLC. The fact of the matter is they CAN’T.”
that is your quote. now, considering only about fifty percent of americans have broadband, and we are close to the top of the ladder on that front, do you really think that only half of the people that paid for a complete game should get it? i really thought that you had more sense than that, but you are like half and half. you’re disgusting unless you’re drowned out in coffee. elitist scumbag.
lol, are you STILL going?
its getting old son…..
Isn’t microsoft a real dick about pricing the content over live? I mean I’ve heard plenty about devs wanting to make their downloadables free but had to put a price on it because MS said so. So how is Burnout getting through the grips?
please microsoft is EAs Bitch. They even let Ea set up thier own online servers just to get the sports games. too much resistance from Ms will cause EA to go in a bad mood, and MS would be fucked without them.
I think the lot of us can live without EA, it’s EA that can’t afford to lose a stake in it’s all around software sales with MS.
Surely I’m expecting a different reason.
“Microsoft is EA’s bitch”
*rolls eyes*
c’mon kiddo, are you serious? EA is a monster in their own right, but they are not quite in the same league as MS.
yes, that is why they are the bitch.
Why is it that GTA IV does a better job in the racing genre than these “racing” games.
lol, because its not full of asshats who take the ‘racing’ far too seriously.
“You bumped my car in a turn asshole. Fuck you douche” etc….
GTA is all about the laughs. Good times, roll on.
As far as i know, Criterion have said the islands will be free, they havent said if the bikes, new modes, etc will be free
im thinking it will be like the Crackdown DLC in 2 parts, 1 free, 1 not
Criterion is supporting the game with additional content for one year after release. Sure they could have waited an additional year to release the game but they wouldn’t have learnt anything about how people have been playing the game: what areas or aspects they like best, how they interact with other players, etc. According to their podcast, they have completely altered the design of the new island, based on telemetry from the game and player feedback.
Don’t forget, many reviews rated the single player offline game quite well, even without all the additional online content. Think of the online content as a payoff/reward for subscribing to XBOX Live!
One final note for people without high speed internet access, they could always bring their XBOX over to a friends place who does have high speed access and “borrow” his connection to download the extra content.
