Worth the price?

Played the trial, and enjoyed it. I will say that the one issue I see is at 1600 points, it forces me to buy a 2800 point card, whereas if it was at 1400 points, theres no problem.

If your a fan of Penny Arcade, you will enjoy it, but like most on here, you will all just complain.

You fail xboxic……

You are correct, but in the US, point cards are 1600 for $19.99. In Canada, it’s 1400 for $19.99. My problem with this is that the Canadian $ > or = the $US, and has been for the past 6 months. Get with the time MS.

As for the game, so far it’s fun, but I only played the intro part.

You are complaining? In Europe it’s 2100 points for 25€ which equals 84 points per euro. Now 1 euro equals 1.58 dollars so in Europe we get 53 points per dollar whereas in the USA they get 89 points per dollar. I’m not buying anything from the XBLA anymore until this gets at least partially corrected.

Get over it, it’s like that with EVERYTHING, notice how little you pay for a TV in the US, compared to here. We live in a totally different economy :)

Yeah but it still your nose diving economy that has caused most of the fucking problems anyway.

I agree that they need to sort this out…

I don’t see why we should have to pay more or less than anywhere else in the world. For years I think Microsoft, Sony etc have all been shafting the European market, specifically the UK, with significantly higher prices.

The “(sigh)” made me laugh. Thanks XboxIC

I doubt many will buy this game because of the price. It’s kinda steep but i think the game is almost worth it. I really wasn’t expecting much from this game but i enjoyed the demo and i had the spare points to get the full game. It gets alot more fun once you start getting into the game, leveling ur characters up and learning new moves, there seems to be a lot in the game, story twists, and fun adventure.
It’s the first arcade game that ive played more than 10 minutes and i actually plan to load it up a second time too!
The price sucks but its a good fun M rated game

Bought the game because I love the humor of the webcomics and the trial was fun. Steep price but so far it’s worth it.

I’m with everyone else on this one…

I tried the trail… I think its awesome… but 1600 points is a bit steep when you don’t know how many times your going to have to spend that to get the full game of however many episodes it ends up being.

Pity that…

Everyone is citing the price as something to worry about, but as everyone plays it, they think it’s great. You have to stop thinking of this as a little arcade game like Zuma or Wik’s Adventure. If it were packaged in a pretty green box and sold on shelves for $20, people would be loving the price. It’s a budget game released through live.

Comment by FoolInjection on 2008-05-22 15:30:31 | Reply

True… although I’d happily buy the game with all the episodes on one disk for £39.99. Rather than drop 1600MS for each one.

Who says they wouldn’t in the future? Other arcade games have made it to retail manufacturing as well.

If it were packaged in a pretty green box and sold on shelves for $20 then I’d actually physically own it without the worry of DRM issues and could trade it in when I’d finished it (which would be about 5 hours after I’d bought it judging by what people are saying about the game).
You’ve got to stop thinking of this as a genuine retail budget release like Earth Defence Force. It’s an overpriced XBLA title with no replay value and comes with all the DRM baggage that this implies. I also can’t hand over exactly $20 in cash for the game on the 360 because I’m in the EU and cards are sold with a minimum of 2100 Microsoft points on them.

Comment by Symbiot on 2008-05-22 22:15:10 | Reply

So you’d rather spend $20, and sell it back for $2-$5? There’s no more replay value in that, and you’ll barely get anything back.
Also, DRM won’t be an issue with the new tool they’re releasing.
Still seems like a budget game to me, and your perspective is stuck because of the platform it’s released on.

A) the tool hasn’t been released, so we’ll see….
B) still doesn’t change the fact that there are DRM issues. For example, I can’t take an XBLA game to my buddies place (unless I bring my gamertag with me).

The arcade is supposed to be for smaller titles that are “impulse buys”, not near retail prices for episodic content.

If and when it comes out on a retail disc, I’ll give it a look, but until then I’ll pass.

Speaking of lack of replay value, reading through the achievements you can tell that was why they chose the ones they did. In hopes of getting peeps to replay the game. Pretty lame.

Other than that though, I’m enjoying the game so far.

The trail was pretty boring and repetitive, but it shows promise. I definitely wont be spending $20 for this. I don’t even think I’d spend $10 on it. On the plus side, it is probably one of the better (if not the best) looking XBLA titles I have seen.

I bought this game not knowing what I was getting into and so far I’m loving it. Hilarious take on an RPG genre. Any game that has characters urinate on you, is a game with promise, especsially when said characters name is “Fruit Fucker”. A.ain, this is well worth it.

Comment by mu on 2008-05-24 16:47:13 | Reply

wow, i can’t believe you guys enjoyed the demo.

golden showers and robots fucking fruit is not adult humor, and i barely made it through the demo without passing out from boredom and disgust.

$20? not for me thanks. and i was a fan of penny arcade. those guys have sold out, and they are charging way too much.
